...This is an issue!

I can't tell you the number of times I've started reading a story that looks really good, and then a character is really out of character so I just stop reading completely.

The most common is the female characters. Like Peggy Carter in a Steve Rogers fic, MJ or Liz in a Peter Parker fic, JJ or Emily in a Spencer Reid fic.

Sometimes even the main character is completely out of character too. Steve Rogers is 100% confident and cocky with women, Peter Parker knows exactly what he's doing and isn't an inexperienced teenager, Spencer Reid isn't a quirky genius, he's the BAU's resident badboy and womanizer.

Now, out of character is generally okay if it's an AU like a Mob! AU, or something along those lines because obviously it'd be different then, but other than something like that the characters still need to be on point or the Reader gets confused/frustrated.

That's why I like writing along with movies so much, because that way I know that the characters will be on point because the majority of what they do is already layed out for me, I'm just inserting another storyline/character and forming that around what's already there for me.

In any case, whatever you do, make sure you know the character and how to write their personality before you actually write for them.

Requests are open, so is asking questions!
