"Hiccup?" Astrid asked.
     Toothless padded in behind her and snuffled around. The forge was dark and the moonlight shone above. Astrid had seen Toothless come to the Great Hall after the day of work, but his rider had been nowhere to be found. Astrid brushed past all the weapons that were gathered there. Toothless let out a soft huff and nosed the sheet that hung from the doorframe.
     "Hiccup? Are you in here?" Astrid moved aside the sheet and poked her head inside.
     Hiccup was lying on his workdesk. His eyes were closed and his hair toussled. Astrid and Toothelss walked over and Astrid inspected the viking who was lying before her. She smiled and looked to the side. A large blanket was lying over a chair and Toothless retrieved it for Astrid. Astrid thanked the dragon with a scratch and draped the blanket over Hiccup's shoulders.
     "Astrid?" Hiccup murmured.
     Astrid froze, hoping that he was sleep talking. Toothless opened his mouth, but Astrid quickly shut it. Toothless blew on Hiccup's head and Hiccup shifted.
     "Toothless, it's to early," Hiccup moaned.
     Astrid chuckled to herself. Toothless and her worked together to drag Hiccup back to his house. As soon as the door opened, Valka looked up from the book she was reading.
     "Hiccup?" Valka asked.
     "He kinda fell asleep in the forge," Astrid said. "Toothless and I managed to get him back here."
     Valka nodded. "I think we can take it from here Toothless."
     Toothless huffed and gave a tiny growl. Valka and Astrid managed to haul Hiccup, which it was not hard with Hiccup's lightweight frame, to his bed. Once he was laid down, Toothless took his position on his rock slab and Valka retreated to her room downstairs. Astrid laid the blanket over Hiccup and turned to leave.
     "Stay," Hiccup mumbled.
     Astrid turned back to see a tiny bit of Hiccup's green eyes poking from under his eyelids. Astrid nodded and sat on the bed. Hiccup shifted and wrapped his arms around Astrid's waist, his head in her lap. Astrid relaxed and played with his hair. Hiccup fell back to sleep and Astrid rested her head against the wall. Her eyes closed and she slunk into sleep.

     The next morning, Valka walked back upstairs to make sure Hiccup would be awake to make his rounds. She peeked in and saw Hiccup placing his armor over his green tunic. He looked up at his mother and smiled.
     "Morning," Hiccup whispered. "Toothless, shh!"
     Toothless looked up and tiptoed around Valka. Valka looked around Hiccup to see Astrid curled up under a few furs. Her hair was out, clearly a move by Hiccup, and her face was peaceful.
     "She fell asleep after I asked her to stay," Hiccup explained. "I moved her to a bit more comfortable position."
     Valka nodded. "I'll make sure she gets something to eat when she wakes up."
     Hiccup smiled. "Thanks Mom." He turned to Astrid and brushed her bangs from her eyes. "Thanks for helping the chief."
          He gave her forehead a gentle kiss, making Valka's heart melt and flutter at the gesture. Hiccup then slid out and down the stairs. Valka smiled as she knew that Hiccup and Astrid's love would last until the end of time.
