"You've got your meds, right? And your sleeping bag? Don't drink anything, ok?"
"Dad, seriously, I'll be fine!"
"Ok, ok. Just don't have too much fun!"
I rolled my eyes and waved goodbye, climbing into the team bus.
"Woah!" I gasped when I stepped inside. The regular seats had been ripped out and replaced with bean bag chairs, and multicolored Christmas lights hung all around the windows. Two mini colorers were in the corner accompanied by a speaker. Dolan looked back at my expression.
"I know, sweet right?" I nodded and plopped down on one of the bean bags.
"Ok, last stop, Damson's house!" Dolan pulled into reverse and backed out of my drive way. I plugged in my head phones and got situated in my seat.

Most of the drive was boring, until Damson picked up on the awkward mood.
"Ok, everyone!" He turned around in his seat and clapped his hands to get our attention. "Karaoke battles. Grab a partner and start." I smiled and rolled my eyes at Damson. He looked kinda cute from this angle... No, he was a team mate. Nothing more than maybe a friend.
He plugged his phone into the karaoke machine and started blasting music.
He flipped through his phone, finally settling on a song.
"Throw Back!" I laughed and shook my head again
"Once upon a time, not so long ago.
Tommy used work on the docks, unions been on strike
he's down on his luck, it's tough. So tough
Gina works the diner all day, working for her man.
She brings home her pay. For love, for love..." Dolan sang, exaggerated to the point that he was on his knees.
"She says, you gotta hold on, to what you got. It doesn't make a difference if we make it or not! We got each other and that's a lot for love! We give it a shot!"

"So WOAHHHHH, WE'RE HALF WAY THER-RRREEEE! WOAH-OH! Living on a prayer! Take my hand, we'll make it I swear! Woah, living on a prayer!"
Damson bowed, laughing.

Multiple people went after him, some half heartedly, others getting really into it.

Derick and Chris went last, both huge dudes who looked like a boulders.
"The snow glows white on the mountain tonight, not a footprint to be seen!"
"A kingdom of isolation...and it looks like we're the Kings!"

-----------------------------------

We finally arrived at the beach house we would be staying at. Damson pulled me aside when we stepped out.

"Hey, Carter, I heard the boys from the lacrosse team are going to be coming, and I hear they're really abrasive and rude...if you feel uncomfortable..." He said, fidgeting his hands around.

I laughed and blushed. "I'll be fine. But thanks for...y'know...looking out for me." He nodded.
"No problem."

We made our way back to the bus, and grabbed our duffel bags. Dolan seemed to have trouble getting his without the huge pile of gear and stuff tumbling to the ground.
"Here dude," I grunted and held the top few bags steady while he yanked his out.
"Thanks, but I didn't need a gi-." Dolan started to sneer but Damson shot him a look. He cleared his throat. "Thanks."

"Okay guys, here's the sleeping arrangements. Chris, Derrick, Arthur, and George, you have this room." Dolan called out. I saw George and gave him a wave. He and Mary seemed to be a cute couple.
"Damson, and Sean have the couch ..." He rattled off the rest of the list.
"And Carter, you have this room all to yourself." I nodded and went inside. It was a nice room, with a roll out mattress and a dresser. I started unpacking.

"Hey Carter, we're all heading down to the beach, wanna come?" Damson stood in my door frame, a bathing suit and a shirt on.
"Um, sure! Just give me a moment..." I slipped into the bathroom and pulled on my cover up.
"Let's go." I grinned. This week was going to be fun.
