1. Never hunt alone. It likes to pick off loners, because most likely there is no one around. Always have one person in sight of you at all times.

2. Stay away from dark, forested areas. It lurks in dark areas.

3. In the event of a Hunter encounter, follow these simple instructions:

- Do not make eye contact. This provokes it. Stay completely still and look at the ground.

- If you are in the possession of a weapon or any object that has the ability to hold a weapon (backpack, holster, etc) drop it immediately. Do not fire on the Hunter. It will not affect it. Weapons only anger it, even idle weapons.

- Do not turn your back. Slowly back away from the Hunter, keeping your eyes on the ground.

- If it does not follow and you are far enough away that you can no longer see it, do not stop. Keep moving until you find a safe place indoors. A vehicle is not safe. An open shed or barn is not safe. Move to a closed-in, standing building, such as a home.

- If you find yourself cornered by the Hunter, DO NOT PANIC. Higher levels of adrenaline caused by panic triggers the Hunter to attack. Remain calm and curl into the fetal position, protecting your head, neck, and vital organs. Do. Not. Run. If you suspect you are in the presence of the Hunter, here are some clues to confirm:

- A smell of rotting flesh. It exhales a chemical known as ⬛️⬛️⬛️⬛️⬛️⬛️⬛️⬛️⬛️, a colorless gas that smells like rotting meat. It thickens the longer you inhale it. If you smell this and there are no animal corpses nearby, apply an N-95 mask and leave the area immediately.

- A feeling of eyes watching or paranoia. You can always feel it if it is watching you. If you have not yet seen it, most likely you are still safe. It does not attack until you are clearly aware of where it is. If you feel paranoid, or more paranoid than normal, leave the area immediately.

- Often there are small shrines in areas where the Hunter frequents. These shrines are usually composed of sticks, deer skull(s) and bones, and are near a body of water. The clue that it is a Hunter shrine is mostly the Hunter's Sigil carved into the skull's forehead. The Sigil is a ⬛️⬛️⬛️⬛️⬛️⬛️⬛️⬛️⬛️⬛️⬛️⬛️⬛️⬛️⬛️⬛️⬛️⬛️⬛️⬛️. If you see one of these shrines, it is less a giveaway than it is a warning. If you uncover a shrine, it could either mean:

A. Hunter activists (the Hunted) are in the area. This is confirmed information with the presence of a shrine, for they are the builders of Hunter shrines. If you see a Hunted, run as fast as you can in the opposite direction and seek solid shelter and/or civilization immediately. They will follow you until you reach any sort of manmade structure.

B. Shrines mean that the Hunter frequents the area. It is safest to immediately leave the scene and find somewhere else to hunt.

If you see a shrine, leave the area immediately. Do not touch the shrine. Do not disassemble the shrine.

Public Hunter-frequented areas that huntable game tend to visit will always have a warning in the initial parking/trailhead area. Read this warnings and continue at your own risk. The landowner is not liable for any Hunter or Hunted-related injuries or deaths sustained while on their property.
