Hey Maise,

So you're probably wondering where I am right now. Or you probably figured that out and your reading this letter with a knife in your other hand. But if you're not, I should probably explain my disappearance. I recommend you not to be standing around anything dangerous, especially not in the kitchen.

Okay so...hard to state this without sounding so stupid and blunt. I kind of ran away.

PLEASE don't freak out!

You know Sienna right? The girl I introduced to you about a week ago. She's amazing and beautiful, and well...my girlfriend. Well I wanted to spend the summer together before heading off to different colleges in the fall.

I'm pretty sure we both had this conversation last night, although it didn't end too well with you throwing mom's precious vase at my head.

Anyways, I forgive you for that. So please forgive me for taking this "rash step" as you like to call it.

And try to understand me, I want to spend just two weeks with the girl, that I think I love.

Great...now I sound like an A-class sap.

Trust me when I say this, I'm not trying to hurt you. Far from it actually. You've been parenting me long enough, I think it's high time you live yourself. Damn, you're only three years older than me!

So seriously, just enjoy your summer, and forget about me for just two weeks, Sis.

I'm still going to be in the country, so no need to worry. Obviously I'm not telling where exactly. Knowing you, you would definitely follow.

So don't take any "rash steps" because it will get both of us in a lot of shit.

Love,

Your amazingly stupid brother, Preston

P.S: Don't tell mom and dad where I am. They obviously pay more attention to my faults than anything else. Make up a lie or something, a good one preferably.

P.P.S: My phones going to be turned off, so don't waste your energy by calling.

P.P.P.S: And I'm super sorry.

She stared at the letter in front of her incredulously, with anger growing by the second. Clenching the letter in her fist, she took deep breaths.

Don't freak out?! That was the mildest way to put it. She felt like Hulkette at the moment.

How could he even pull such a stupid stunt? She thought to herself. This was by far the worst he had done! And that too with that bimbo Sienna? That girl was too perky for her own good, and the ideal All-American girl.

Maisie was too bother to think, as she stomped over to the living room, where the phone was ringing. Without checking the caller ID, she answered, "Hello."

"Good you're awake." Replied the familiar monotonous voice.

"Mom?" She asked, blinking a couple of times, as her brain returned from hibernation.

"Yes, who else would it be?"

Honestly, anyone. Our neighbours talk to us more than you ever do.

Ignoring her question, she asked, "So why did you call?" It was shocking really. Last time her mother called was about two months ago, and also when she wanted something.

"I am faxing over an important report, the address and information has already been emailed to you. Get Preston to deliver the report to the given address." She said in her business clipped tone. Maisie wasn't expecting any loving mother words anyways.

"Pres isn't home." Her words slipped out before she could think it through. Biting her tongue, she hoped her mother wouldn't question further.

"Well where is he? It is summer."

"Exactly mother. It is summer." She replied sharply.

"Don't talk to me in the tone young lady." Mrs. Collins stated. "Where is your brother?"

Grinding her teeth, she said lowly, "He's at a soccer camp." Well that was a pretty good lie. She thought to herself.

"How long?"

"A week." Damn it!Why did I say that? She thought while face-palming herself.

"Well, your father and I will be home in a weeks time."

"What? Why?!" She exclaimed, almost bumping into the coffee table.

"What do you mean why? Although you have no right to question me, I have important business to deal with."

Maisie pursed her lips, thinking of a way to get out of this.

"Mom I have a university exhibition next week." I blurted the first lie coming to mind.

"Well you can cancel it."

"No I can't. It is important for me to be a part of it. Many companies will be present, I need to be there and make a great impression if I want a chance at a job." I bit my lip, hoping she would fall for it.

There was a pause on the other side, before she answered. "Fine, I will delay our meeting by four more days. Preston and you better be home by the time we get there." With that, she cut the call.

Maisie sighed in relief, before many thoughts whirled in her head.

She looked down at the crumpled letter, re-reading the single line. Don't tell mom and dad where I am. They obviously pay more attention to my faults than anything else.

Even though he was an idiot, she would still protect him. But that did not mean he was getting out of hand.

Grabbing her newly bought box of kitkats from the kitchen, she ran upstairs to her room. Throwing open her suitcase.

She had only one and a half week to bring back her brainless brother.
