More Nico starting his period because why the hell not (+ a coming out fic + a first kissy kiss fic + this chapter is 2k words so, yeah)

I am going to be doing some of the ideas left on my last chapter, I just wanted to write this first to kinda get thoughts going and everything since I have been pretty unmotivated to write recently.

PSA: the new Panic! album is fuckin' bomb so far and I'm ready for the rest to be released and my mom said I could go to the concert when it's in town but I have no one to go with send help.

Also, I do want to say this quickly, telling me to update isn't going to make a chapter come out faster. Especially in times when I'm not motivated to write (like now). When someone tells me to update, it freaks me out, in a way. Like, I stress trying to get a chapter written and it turns out terrible and I have to go back and rewrite it so it takes longer than it usually would to write a chapter, but at the same time, when someone tells me to update, it makes writing feel kind of like a chore and it just becomes unenjoyable for me and it makes me just not want to write at all. I'm glad that you like my writing and want me to update, but please, just be patient. Thanks <3

Nico woke up with a groan, his stomach cramping. He rolled to his side, slowly sitting up as he rests his hand on his stomach.

He took a few deep breaths, getting up and cringing when he felt something wet drip between his legs. His eyes widen at the red staining his shorts and inner thighs. He feels a surge of panic, and looking at his bed sheets, he isn't sure what to do.

In the back of his mind, he knew he had started his period, but he was fourteen and hasn't had a period before, so he doesn't have anything to use. It never occurred to him that he should maybe have a few pads for when he did start his period.

An undignified whine escapes the back of his throat and he felt tears prickling at his eyes. He took a shaky breath and quickly took the sheets off of his bed, but when he had them in his hands, he wasn't sure what to do with them. He groans and tosses them haphazardly back on his bed. He looked back down at his legs and sighed, wiping at his eyes as he turned and went to the bathroom.

He grabbed a pair of boxers and sweat pants on the way, quickly taking off the blood-stained ones when he closed the door. Sighing, he threw them in the trash, knowing there was no way he could possibly get the blood out. He quickly sat on the toilet, not wanting to get blood on the floor, and grabbed a towel and started wiping his legs off, deciding he would take a shower when he had an actual pad.

For now though, he put a large wad of toilet paper into the clean pair of underwear, and pulled them up along with his sweatpants. He stood in the bathroom, nervously chewing on his thumb nail as he tried to decide on what to do.

Going to Will wasn't an option. They have only been dating for two months and he didn't want to fuck up what they had by telling him that he wasn't technically a guy, it was hard enough telling Will that he was gay.

Jason is really his only option, considering he was the only person that knew Nico was trans. But he's willing to bet Jason didn't have any pads, and what if he wasn't willing to get Nico pads? Because Nico couldn't get any, there was no excuse for him to unless he wanted to admit to someone that he was trans, and he most certainly was not doing that.

Nico groans, rubbing his hands down his face.

Why did he have to have a uterus?

Taking a deep breath, he shadow travels to Jason's cabin, hesitantly knocking on the door. Jason answers after a second, smiling when he sees Nico.

"You're up early," he comments.

"I- I need your help," Nico mumbles, his face turning red, and Jason frowns, stepping out of the way for Nico to walk in.

"What's wrong?" He asks, closing the door. It's then that he sees Piper sitting (fully clothed, thank gods) on one of the empty beds in the cabin. She's staring at him, and he can't figure out why until he realizes that he isn't wearing his binder.

He quickly wraps his arms around his chest, feeling panic settle in his gut. He takes a step back, feeling his eyes water up again as he looks for the closest shadow. He feels a hand on his shoulder and looks up, Jason is saying something, but the words don't really register. He squeezed his eyes shut, and the shadows swallow him up, and he's soon in the safety of his cabin.

He falls to his knees by his bed and lets out a sob. He puts his hands to his face, his body shaking as he tries to hold back tears. He grips at his hair and glares at the floor through the tears, beyond pissed at himself for slipping up. He didn't want Piper to know, he wasn't ready for her to know.

It feels like seconds before Jason is knocking on his door, and Nico whines. He only gets up to open the door when Jason says that Piper isn't with him, that she's still in his cabin.

True to his word, Piper wasn't there, and he was relieved by the fact. Jason wraps his arms around Nico the second the door is open, repeatedly apologizing. Nico awkwardly shimmies out of his grasp. He rubs the sleeve of his shirt under his eyes, not wanting to cry in front of his friend.

"It- It wasn't your fault," he mumbles not making eye contact, "I should have been more careful."

"It wasn't your fault either," Jason states, "and, just putting it out there, Piper doesn't mind if you're trans or not," Nico huffs.

"I don't care. I didn't want her know. I don't want anyone to know, I didn't want you to know. It's something I'm not- not really proud of and I'm not really ready for anyone to know," he shrinks in on himself a the end of his little speech, wrapping his arms around himself subconsciously. Jason sighs, but doesn't comment.

"Are you okay?" He asks suddenly, "You said you needed help."

"I-" Nico blushes, digging his finger nails into his arms, "I, uh, I got my p-period," Nico mumbles the last word quietly, and he's scared that Jason can't hear him and he'll have to repeat himself, but Jason nods after a second.

"Okay," he says, looking confused, "and, how do you want me to help you?"

"I- I don't know what to do," Nico pouts, dropping his arms to his sides in defeat, "I don't have anything and I don't know what to do with my sheets," he limply gestures towards the white sheets scrambled up on the bed.

[Will had insisted that he change his comforter and sheets to white instead of his usual black ones because they looked 'nicer'. He was really hating his boyfriend and his stupid puppy dog eyes at the moment.]

"Okay," Jason nods, "well, first of all why don't you have anything? And how have you been getting pads and stuff, because I'm guessing you haven't been going to the infirmary."

"No, Jason, I don't have anything because I- this is the first time I've, you know," Nico trails off.

"Really? This is your first one? You're fourteen, are you just a late bloomer or something?"

"That isn't the issue, Jason," Nico groans.

"Right, okay, um, I honestly would love to help you, Nico," Nico can feel himself deflate at his words- was Jason really not going to help him? "And, I will if you absolutely want me to, but I feel like Piper could help you so much better than I could. I'll help in anyway I can, I just think she would be able to help you more," he sits next to Nico, who's bottom lip is quivering.

"I just want someone to help me," Nico whines desperately. He knows having Piper help him would be better, but he wishes it could be Jason.

"I'm going to get Piper," Nico nods, sighing as he wipes at his eyes. Jason nods, patting his shoulder as he stands up and leaves.

It takes a few minutes for Piper to knock on his door, and Nico calls for her to come in. She smiles when she sees him, and Nico gives a small smile in return.

"Hey," she says as she sits down next to him, and Nico picks at the strings hanging from the waist band of his pants.

"Hi," he mumbles shortly, not looking at her. She takes something out of her pocket, holding it out for Nico.

"Jason said you got you period," she says, and Nico's face goes red as he nods, "so, I got you some pads," she finishes, and Nico feels like a weight has been lifted from his shoulders for some odd reason. He looks at them strangely, not really sure on how it works, and Piper chuckles beside him. She grabs one of the pads, and shows him how he would put it on.

When she's finished, Nico nodded and went to the bathroom. He put the other pads under the sink, and washed his hands when he was finished, taking a second to breathe before he went back out to Piper.

She smiled, and Nico sat beside her, bringing his knees to his chest.

"Thank you," he mumbled, resting his head on his knees. Piper hums in response.

"Once you get comfortable with your period and everything," Nico scoffs at the idea- he's sure he won't ever get comfortable with his period, "I would recommend you start using tampons, just because it's easier and more comfortable to move around with them, in my opinion, at least."

Nico shifted, he didn't know what a tampon was, but he wasn't about to ask, so he simply nodded.

"I'm going to suggest something," she stated, and Nico looked at her, "and it's going to seem crazy, but you have to consider it, okay?"

"Okay," He agrees hesitantly.

"You should tell Will-"

"No," he said immediately.

"Nico," she sighed.

"No."

"Just listen, okay?" She continued when Nico didn't respond, "Will is your boyfriend. He cares about you and he just wants you to be happy. If you tell him what's happening, it'll make things so much easier, because honestly, everything is just so much worse on your period, Nico. And Will would be able to get you pads when you need them, and sometimes, after a long day, it's nice to just talk to some you know cares about you. You need to open up to him, Nico."

Nico sighs. He knew he was going to have to eventually, but it didn't mean he wanted to.

"I'm scared to," Nico states quietly, looking pointedly at the fuzzy black carpet he was sitting on (once again, Will made him get it. He liked it though.) Piper gives him a smile.

"You have no reason to be. I promise you Will won't look at you any differently, and he certainly won't end your relationship because you're trans. From what little I know about Will, I can say that he isn't that shallow. And besides, why would you want to date someone who didn't accept you for who you are?"

Nico sighs because he knows she has a point and he really wishes she didn't. Telling Will that he was trans would help explain so many different things to him, and it could bring them closer together.

Nico felt safe around Will. He knew Will wouldn't judge him- Will wouldn't judge anyone- and he knows Will would be understanding. Really, logically, Nico knew there was nothing to be afraid of. And Piper was right- why date someone when they don't accept who you are?

"Okay," Nico relents after a few moments, "I'll tell him later today." Piper smile widens slightly, and she glances behind them.

"For your sheets, you can soak them in cold water and put hydrogen peroxide on the stain. It should take out the blood, or, since they are white, you can just bleach them," Nico glances up at her, then looks at the sheets.

"Thanks," he says, standing up and grabbing them. He excuses himself and goes to the bathroom, filling the sink up with cold water and soaking the area with the stain in it.

"I need to get going," Piper calls, "breakfast is starting soon."

------

Nico sat at the Apollo table with Will like he usually does, picking at his food. He's not really eating, and it's partly because he's nervous, partly because his stomach hurts so bad he's sure he would get sick if he did eat.

Will asks if he's okay multiple times, to which Nico nods mutely. He keeps getting worried glances through out breakfast by Will, but he pretends he doesn't notice.

Soon enough, the Apollo cabin is finished eating. Will calls for them to start cleaning up, and when he stands up himself to help, Nico grabs his hand. Will looks down at him with a frown.

"I need to tell you something," he states, his words a whisper. Will's frown deepens, but he nods and sits down, his attention fully on Nico.

"What's wrong?" He asks, his voice just as quiet and soft, and he squeezes Nico's hand gently.

Nico glances at the people around them before he looks back at Will.

"Can we go to my cabin?" Will nods, asks Kayla if she can take charge for a while, and then they start going to Nico's cabin, hand in hand.

With each step, Nico feels like his heart pounds harder and harder, and he can feel his palms get more and more sweating. He tries to ignore, instead focusing on his breathing.

"Where are your sheets?" Will asks as he closes the door. Nico blushes.

"It doesn't matter," he grumbles. Will hums, sitting on the bed next to Nico.

Nico takes a deep breath, folding his legs underneath him. Will looked at him expectedly.

"You can't get mad that I didn't tell you," Will nods, silently grabbing Nico's hand again. Nico takes a deep breath, "um, so, I- I'm not-" Nico groans, puts his hands over his face so he won't see Will's reaction as he quickly blurts, "I'm transgender."

"Oh thank gods," Will breaths, leaning forward and resting his head on Nico's shoulder. Nico frowns, his hand instinctively moving to rest on top of Will's head.

"What?" Nico asks, confused.

"I thought you were going to tell me some horrible secret," Will moves so he's sitting up again, "you scared me, Neeks," Will whined.

"That is a horrible secret, Solace," Nico mutters, pouting.

"It's a secret," Will shrugs, "wouldn't necessarily say a horrible one." Nico looks at him for a second, pouting, before he slowly smiles.

He puts his face in Will's chest, his arms going around Will's waist. He can feel Will smiling as he wraps his arms around him.

"What's happening?" Will laughs.

"Just happy," Nico says, pulling back and looking up at Will, "thanks for not hating me." Will chuckled.

"I don't think it's possible to hate you," he murmured, putting his hands on either side of Nico's face. Nico smiled at him, and Will couldn't help but laugh again.

Nico put one of his hands over Will's when he mushed his cheeks together.

"Can- Can you kiss me?" Nico asked quietly. Will's mouth opened a bit in surprise, but he closed it after a second and nodded, his cheeks turning red, Nico was sure his cheeks were just as red.

"I haven't ever kissed anyone," Will warned, "I have no idea what I'm doing."

"I haven't either," Nico grinned up at him. Will smiled, then slowly leaned down to give him a short, sweet kiss.
