Alright, lets get down to business (to defeat the ha--)

Last art book my first chapter was an art dump and i think im gonna do the same thing since ive compiled a few doodles while i was taking my break

But dont worry though, at the end of this first chapter i have a VERY good drawing that i feel like i improved a lot on and am very excited to share!

So lets go art dump!

A new version of crystel that me and some discord friends ended up making for a dumb fantasy universe

I never colored this one, but a doodle of my eight-legged mutant alien dog from a roleplay with a friend

And a shitpost from said roleplay

A doodle of my bewear sona because i love them. They have a story now also, they are like a pokemon mercenary that tracks down shiny hunters that mistreat their shiny pokemon, and since they themselves are shiny the hunters are after them also, its like a big cycle of bewear tracking the hunters, and the hunters tracking bewear. Also they adopted some nidorans and became mom of the year

And a ref of my two pokemon mystery dungeon character, Amber the vulpix and Cream the eevee! I love these two SO MUCH i am so attached to them

Speaking of these two, this is my seamless transition to the actually good drawing that im very proud of and excited to share!

So Cream and Amber are from the Pokemon mystery dungeon games, specifically Explorers of Sky. This game was ABSOLUTELY one of my favorite games ive ever played all the way through to completion. Its such a sweet and sad story, even if its cheesy because its meant for kids. I chose eevee as my player character and vulpix as my partner, and thus Cream and Amber were born.

For context of this drawing, a plot-heavy section of the game takes place in the future where time is frozen and everything is dead basically. You and your partner have to figure out how to get back to the present so they can stop the future's paralysis, and the entire time theyre travelling the destroyed land in the future theyre being pursued by a team of pokemon assassins trying to literally actually murder them. Yknow, for kids!

Its a very dramatic part of the game, and i wanted to illustrate it with my gorls.

In this drawing i got very experimental and left my comfort zone with a few things, including the shading, the illusion of depth with the characters, and most notably, the background.

Im so happy with the background. Im not very good at scenic backgrounds but i tried my best, applied my knowledge of digital painting, and i think it turned out very good!

I just noticed how dark it looks on the white background lmao

I dont have much more to talk about the drawing itself so lets look at some layers instead

You might be able to see it, but i experimented with line thiccness to give the illusion of depth. You can see how cream's paw is a lot closer to the viewer than amber is, running in the back behind cream.

Flat colors

I actually colored these two already according to the overall tone of the drawing. The future in the game is all dark black and grey and has hardly any color, so i had to desaturate cream and amber so they wouldnt look out of place. They still look bright by comparison, but not eyeblindingly so.

Background first pass: sky and closer rocks/cliffs

The weird lines on the floor were just some weird guidelines for me and where i wanted shadows to be on the floor

I still cant get over this lmao

It feels like im looking at this drawing and i dont really believe that im the one that made it. I just like nyoomed down improvement lane and i dont even recognize my own art anymore
