august's story is a slightly boring and typical one. he was the first born child of the king and queen of illéa. his whole life he's been prepped to take the throne for himself one day. growing up, it's hard for auggie to remember a time where there was peace in the palace. only two years after he was born and christened the golden boy did everything fall apart with the birth of his sister. while auggie loves his sister dearly, her arrival really fucked things up. as a little kid, the king was harsh and stern with august. he expected lots from him and didn't exactly give him opportunities to mess around and do usual kid stuff. the palace was a dreadfully boring and sullen place for the years of august's childhood. as he grew, only then did he begin to force his way into having a little bit of freedom. even as he grew older and time passed, the king still held high expectations and standards for the young heir to the throne. august had to trail his father to meetings that he was never allowed to participate in. he was to be seen, not heard. it was difficult for auggie because his father is literally a dick. there's no nice way to put it. auggie's views on the world and how the monarchy should run things grew to be wildly different from his greedy father's, but there was nothing he could do but bite his tongue and wait until he was king. it sucked ass.

but still, he couldn't really complain that much. for the small amount of strife he had because of politics and his family, he had about double the amount of perks. he was rich and he lived in a palace. as he grew older and smarter, august learned how to hide his little acts of rebellion and basically his thoughts. he did what he wanted but always made sure he was on time to meetings. yet that still left him time to mess around with his best friend in the palace. so really, he couldn't complain too much. he had a pretty typical prince life and it was just starting to change.

then the selection came up. his father had a selection, and "by god, his son would have one too!" while auggie isn't exactly ecstatic for the selection, he knew it was coming the moment he turned 21. but he was going to do this on his terms. no way was he wasting his summer attending meetings and then going on stuffy palace dates. so he made a proposition. the beach selection. auggie would submit to the selection and take it seriously if he could have it at their beach in bonita and if the parents stayed away. those were his terms. reluctantly the king agreed, and that is how we have our story.

♙ PERSONALITY ♙

auggie's personality isn't easily put to words. he's got a few sides to him, so let's go in order, shall we? first off, auggie is fake as fuck. now, this probably isn't a good quality, but it's how he survives being crown prince. dear august is the golden boy. he has to be perfect, and he'll do anything to project that image. he'll be the bland gentleman that he's expected to be. he just does it to fit in with all the old geezers in the palace. so when you first meet august, he's the absolute prince cliche. he'll greet you formally before kissing your hand. he may talk about the weather. it will be terrible, but all an act.

in reality, auggie is a really simple guy. he's got an absolutely adorable grin and a laid-back attitude. he's the type of guy to just go with the flow. he's not a high strung perfectionist like some people might assume him to be. instead he's actually just a really sweet guy. if you met him and didn't know he was a prince with the weight of the world looming over his shoulders, you'd never be able to tell he was /the/ golden boy. auggie is a rather confusingly nice guy. that might not make sense, but it's actually quite simple. august is nice almost all the time no matter what, so you never know if he's being nice because he's the golden boy/prince charming type, or if it's actually genuine because he wants you to like him. he loves to goof off and joke around rather than stress out and work. auggie is the type of guy you go to when you really need to rant without being judged. he's an amazing listener and he's way too polite to ever judge you. if you need blunt honest, go to someone else, if you just need someone to listen and comfort you, go to auggie.

all of this makes august sound rather vanilla/plain, but he's actually rather the opposite. while auggie is rather casual and chill, he's also an adventure all wrapped up into one. he's the type of guy to randomly go on adventures when he can sneak away. he's the type of guy to host poker night weekly even though lilette wins almost every single freakin time. he's the type of guy to roll with his friends and let them literally randomly adopt a dog. he's the type of friend you want to have.

one thing that will surprise you is auggie's wit. it's quick and sharp. he'll tend to make little remarks under his breath that no one would expect from him. he's the type of guy who will keep his true personality hidden, so when it comes out, it comes as a surprise. he's a surprisingly sly guy when he wants to be. when he's in a playful mood, you'll be shocked that the chill dude could actually be that funny and teasing. just wait, you'll see.

auggie is also an extremely caring and loyal person. he's kinda like a golden retriever. yes, i may be calling him a dog, but not in a bad way. if he grows fond of you, he's the type of guy to go out of his way to make you happy. if you're crying, he'll show up with ice cream and a shoulder to cry on. if you're in the need to celebrate, he'll show up with a wide grin and a bottle of champagne. he's a great, great friend. the only thing is that it's hard to earn his trust. he's such a good friend that he has to keep his circle tight to actually be able to manage it.

in conclusion: auggie starts off pretty fake. polite, charming, bland. but as you get to know him you'll see the sweet and funny guy within. his sense of humor is always there and he's always ready for an adventure.

— this will come as a huge surprise to those who know my oc's, but auggie is a musician. he plays piano and a bit of violin. shocker.

— auggie really hates hearing himself called 'prince august'. it's just so stuffy.

— i don't think you'll ever be able to find auggie in a place where he doesn't have a book or have a book stashed in the room.

— august's sense of humor could definitely be compared to that of chandler bing

— auggie is sorta terrified of the selection. he's had quite a few relationships (one very public one for a year with the french princess), and yet the thought of 35 woman all expecting something from him still scares the shit out of him.
