***

She didn't know how much time has passed. 1 hour? Maybe 2?

Her eyes just couldn't seem to close. Why isn't sleep coming to her?

The entire treehouse was quiet, except for Finn and Jake's snores. Atleast the were sleeping peacefully. Finn's arm was draped over her as he laid beside her. Meanwhile, she was staring up at the ceiling.

She already did countless of strategies to make her feel atleasta bit sleepy. She counted the wooden planks that made uo the ceiling, she blinked 100 times (to tire her eyelids), but nothing worked.

Maybe a glass of milk can help, she thought. She glanced at Finn, who was still deeply asleep. As careful as she could, she lifted the arm and placed it beside him before sitting upright.

She put her foot on the ground and quietly stepped back, going down the ladder towards the kitchen. It was dark, but she already knew where to go considering she's been here countless of times.

Carton milk, mm mm. With the moon from the window, she used its light to help her see where she was pouring. She filled it up to the very top.

"Milk," she mumbled to herself as she gazed at the liquid, ready to consume it.

But the lights turned on, and Finn was standing there with his eyes barely open.

"Agh!" She screamed, almost dropping the glass. "Finn!"

"Y/n," he said, "What are you doing?"

"Why are you awake?" It was really stupid to answer a question with another question, but it was also stupid that he caught her in the act.

Finn shrugged. "I couldn't find you." He rubbed his eyes, and that made her feel bad. She woke him up for no good reason. "What are you doing with milk?"

She had no choice but to tell the truth. She already feel bad enough as it is, so there's no use dancing around the issues. "I... I'm having trouble trying to sleep."

"Oh, you poor baby," he cooed. "Why can't you sleep?"

"I don't know," she answered honestly. "Must've had a lot on my mind."

Finn strided towards her albeit drowsily. He pulled her into a warm embrace as she was careful to outstretch her arm with the milk to not spill it. He can be so clumsy when he's half asleep.

He patted her head affectionately. "Don't worry, I can stay up with you."

"No need. I'll just have a swig of this milk and we can go back to bed."

He let go, and she drank the entire cup, disposing it to the sink before going up with Finn.

Jake was still sleeping soundly when the two got there. They crawled under the covers and Y/n waited until the milk had taken effect, but it still didn't work.

"Are you sleepy now?" Finn whispered, facing her. He had his arm enveloped around her once more as he snuggled closer.

She sighed, defeated. "No... ugh, this is so annoying. I feel bad."

"Shh... you should really calm down. Don't think about trying to sleep. Just... clear your mind."

She frowned. Now Finn is trying to console her instead of getting the sleep he needed. She took a deep breath and nestled herself against him. She should try and focus on the way she feels around him. She felt warm, she felt safe. She felt loved.

"Sleepy?"

"Not yet..." she mumbled.

Finn paused for a brief moment. "Okay, you better get comfortable because I'm about to sing you... Mom's lullaby."

Her eyes slightly widened. She had rarely heard anything about their parents despite she and Finn dating for a long time now. She felt excitement in her chest as she leaned in closer to hear.

Finn began in whispers. It was more difficult to sing while laying down, and when your voice is raspy from just waking up, but he still delivered.

"Don't be weepy, sleepy puppies
Slip your slippers on your footies."

His singing was slow and droopy, but she still felt comfort in them. She can imagine his mom singing this lullaby.

"In the morning you'll get goodies;
Puppy hats and puppy hoodies."

She could feel her eyes stooping. It was closing and opening. It was heavy, and she let it fall, finally closing. All she saw was darkness, but she was still conscious.

"No stripes or polk-a-dots;
Heather gray or Feather soft
Baby pink or baby blue...
All the draw strings you can... chew."

He finished. She was still hanging onto his voice. It was so calming and precious. And even though her whole body is relaxed now, her heart couldn't stop itself from reeling. It just felt so touching to hear the song from Finn.

"Feel better?" He mumbled, and there was no response.

He smiled when he noticed that she had already fell asleep, nuzzling her face against his neck as she clung on tighter.

Finn placed a chaste kiss on her forehead as he felt himself getting drowsy from the song too. "Sweet dreams, Y/n."

The lullaby truly doesn't make any exceptions. It will literally make anyone who hears it instantly fall asleep. And in his dreams, Finn had thanked his mom.
