Helloooo everyone! This is the last chapter of this book and I am so sorry that it is shorter than the rest of the others. I realized it was short when I was editing it.

Anyways I'll catch up at the end of the story.

Enjoy!

Calista couldn't even sit down for a moment. The Annual Iiliria Day Ball was a big deal for the school and the town, making it a big deal for her. Guests from all over the world would be present in the ball as the celebrations would continue for the whole week.

She knew that everything would have been taken care by Dean, he was an efficient worker, and an amazing Enchanter being. The only thing she was focused on the present moment was the security. Calista had been paranoid about the safety of Aldcoast since the blast happened 18 years back.

She would not be careless about the safety of the people who were under her protection. She had lost everything when she had lost her mother and her husband. Calista cursed herself every day for not dying that day with Dominic. She left him behind, left him to die when she could bring him with her.

Dominic would have been alive if she wasn't selfish. If she wouldn't have fallen in love with him, Dominic would have been safe. Her mother would have been alive too. She wasn't alone who lost everything.

Dean too lost his family in the battle. The scared little boy who came to her crying, he had no one except an old grandfather. Calista decided to adopt him. She lost her baby, but she could protect the little boy and his grandfather.

He was 5 when Calista took Dean in. His grandfather was stubborn, he didn't want Dean to be separated from him. It took Calista years to convince him to come along with Dean. She wasn't going to separate them ever. Derek Moriarty was 82 when he died, Dean was 10. The boy broke when his grandfather died. His powers would take a toll on him, and he started to go into depression.

He didn't, Calista encouraged him, but it was something else that helped him.

Amaya Le Doux. She was as messed up as Dean. She had the ability to control emotions, but it wasn't others emotions she could manipulate then. Her powers were so strong that she couldn't control it. The little 7-year-old girl was the only one during the practice sessions who didn't laugh at Dean. He was unable to float the pen but lifted himself and fell. She rather helped him up and smiled at him kindly.

Calista was there, she saw everything. She saw Dean smile when the girl told him that she wished to fly like he did. That did it. They became friends since and Calista couldn't be much happier seeing Dean happy.

Although she saw Dean, Amaya, and Rafael grow up closely, Calista couldn't help but remember her baby. The baby she lost when she lost the rest of her family. Calista never thought she would have a family until Dean smiled at her. He was a ball of happiness who made her happy. A son she never had.

Calista never told Dean about her baby, she couldn't. It was better if he knew less, he would be safer if he knew less. Calista had hidden everything from Dean, except the part of the war. He had to know who killed his parents.

Right now, Calista made sure that the mistakes of her past won't haunt her kids in the present, especially Tiffany. She couldn't let anything hurt her. They had lost her once because of that blast, she couldn't do it again.

As she weaved through the emerging crowd, greeting everyone, Calista couldn't help but feel paranoid. Something inside her told her to be careful. Her thoughts went to Dean and Tiffany, she had to save them if anything went wrong.

Calista kept looking at the table where Dean, Asher, and Rafael sat. There was no trace of Tiffany or Amaya anywhere. Calista was getting anxious why there weren't here. Rafael left the table as he went towards the washrooms. After a few moments, she saw Asher stand up and sighed in relief when she saw Tiffany descending from the stairs.

Calista felt proud, Tiffany didn't look like any of the women in the party, not even like Calista. Tiffany looked like herself, making a mark in the memory of the Enchanter community. She wore a white, plain, fitted tube jumpsuit, and a white long sleeved embroidered jacket, breaking the rules of a ball outfit, but still not breaking it.

She saw her smile at Asher who looked at her lovingly. She was surprised how much these two were in love, this was unusual at such an age. They were just seventeen, practically kids, but they were so mature already.

Calista saw Tiffany interact with Dean. She knew Dean liked Tiffany, it was clear from the way he saw her. But there was something else she saw, and couldn't deny, she saw it right then.

Amaya stood at the top of the stairs as the people stopped what they were doing. She was making quite an appearance with the gown she wore. It was gray in color with powder pink flowers embellished on her gown. Her bodice was full of flowers, and the embellishment gave an illusion of an off-shoulder while the skin colored net was there. The skirt of her gown had a peplum layer with another long puffy skirt which had a trail behind her. The back of her gown was again an illusion of backless with pearls hanging till her upper waist. Calista knew it because she was the one who helped Amaya finalize the gown when she saw her at the boutique with Tiffany.

Calista gave Amaya and Tiffany the idea of taking Arabella's help in getting ready. Arabella was a miracle maker, still is because Amaya looked like a fairytale princess. She was hardly recognizable even when she spotted a low makeup look.

Arabella did a great job on the girls, Calista gave her that. She saw Amaya frown a bit and realized that Rafael was nowhere to be seen. Calista looked everywhere but the technopath was not in the room. She was going to get up and bring the girl when she saw Dean approaching her.

He looked in a daze as Tiffany and Asher tried to stop him, but he didn't respond and walked in Amaya's direction.

Calista knew Dean well. She understood that Dean hadn't recognized Amaya yet. But the girl descending the stairs smiled at him and breathed out in relief.

She saw Dean asking Amaya to dance, it was clear that he was smitten by her. Dean looked at Amaya like she was the only person in the room making it clear that he had feelings for Amaya. He just didn't know it yet while Amaya had figured it out a long time back. That's what she had told her that day. She told her that Dean was an unobservant boy who had no idea what he felt. She told Amaya that if she didn't act fast, Dean might take her for granted all their life. Amaya had understood, it was visible she acted on it too, her skills had improved and right now she looked like a princess.

As she saw Amaya descend the stairs, Calista saw something at the top of the stairs, something she prayed she would never see. He was standing behind the railing in his attempt to not being seen, but Calista could spot him anywhere.

Her heart beat raced as he eyed Tiffany with interest who was talking animatedly with Asher. His eyes went to Amaya and Dean, and Calista felt her breath stuck in her throat. She thought about reaching Dean, but Dean was now on the dance floor, and getting him would mean getting everyone's attention, which was the last thing Calista wanted.

She got up from her table, excusing herself calmly from the Mayor Mason and his wife, and left the table. She hardly talked to them the whole time. She walked out of the doors of the ballroom and quickened her pace. Her feet took her to the Hall of Remembrance, which was the farthest room from the ballroom.

She knew that he had seen her, he would follow Calista and not her kids and leave them alone. She will make sure of that. Calista would give her life if she had to in order to save the school and her children. She was not letting him take everything away from her easily this time.

Calista reached the hall and went straight to the marble counter where the pictures of her father, mother, and husband were. She waved her hand on the top of the counter. The middle of the counter opened, a box emerged on a metal claw. Calista opened the box and took in a breath in as her eyes fell on the contents of the box.

She had kept them as it reminded her of her mistakes and the family she lost because of that. She had trusted the wrong person, and it led to losing everything she had. She wasn't afraid until she found things to fight for once again. Now Calista won't back off without a fight.

She picked out the ring and the necklace. The ring glowing in her hand, releasing what once it took to the owner, and the necklace which had all the secrets Calista hid.

"Wanting me all for yourself, huh," A similar voice said and Calista waved the counter and the box disappeared where it was. "If it was so, I would have returned sooner. I wouldn't have made you wait for so long," He said, Calista could hear the evil smirk in his voice.

She turned to face the owner of the voice, her ring had given her back the power, the necklace was safe in the pocket of her dress.

"Why are you here?" Calista asked him venomously. He hadn't changed much.

"To see you, of course," He said innocently, he was far from innocent.

"Don't play games with me, Jace. Why are you here? I swear if you harm any of my children..." Calista was cut off.

"I love the way you say my name. It sounds so...so...divine," Jace put his hands in his pocket and gave a wicked grin.

"I swear if you are here to hurt..." She was cut off again.

"Your children. Yeah, yeah...your children. The only happy things in your sad, painful life. Except for the fact that they are not yours," Jace mocked her, Calista scowled at him.

"Wait a minute, you too had a child. Isn't it?" Jace pretended to remember, tapping his chin with his index finger. "Remind me what I did to it?" He asked, Calista gritted her teeth and fisted her palm.

"Ooh, did I hurt your feelings?" He asked making puppy dog eyes, then it changed into a malicious grin, "I remember now, I killed it. Just like I killed your mother and your husband," He laughed dangerously.

"You have lost your mind. That place has made you crazy than you were before!" Calista shouted.

"That place?" He quirked up his eyebrow, "No, no, no. That place has given me a home I never had," He told her. "You, Calista Delacroix. You made me crazy!" He snapped his eyes to her, they were red with anger.

"I did nothing! You used me!" She pointed out, getting angry minute by minute.

"Yes I did, I want you again," He told her and Calista's eyes widened.

"What in the world do you mean?" She asked him, her fingers tingling with power.

"I want you, Calista Delacroix. You are my key to rule Iiliria," He told her, giving her a lusty look. "And when I am done, for other reasons too," He added, and Calista's nose flared with anger.

"You won't be harming Aldcoast until I am alive. I, Calista Thorton won't let you," Calista said as the dark blue- gray spark glowed from her fingers as she created a tornado, and pushed it towards Jace.

To her surprise, Jace clicked her fingers, and the tornado disappeared, and Calista came face to face again with a smirking Jace.

"It's not just you, Callie who got powerful through the years," Jace said as his hands emitted yellow sparkle, and an energy ball went towards Calista.

She raised up the earth and it protected her from the energy.

"Impressive, let's see how you tackle this," Jace said as he sent lightning towards her, and Calista once again used Earth as a shield to protect her.

Calista, without wasting any time stood up a wall around Jace as she lit it up on fire. To her shock, a huge wave of water doused the fire, and he conjured the walls down.

"Do you think it's only you who has the power to manipulate elements?" Jace asked with an amused expression, now playing with his necklace. A crystal similar to one in Calista's ring.

"You stole them, you coward! You are a cheater and a swine, nothing else," Calista vociferated loudly.

"Enough of this! I've played enough," Jace sneered as he conjured a huge ball of energy. Before Calista could defend herself, the energy ball hit her, she landed on the wall behind her, hitting her head hard.

"Let's go, Callie, I have waited quite long for this," Jace said whispered to the almost unconscious Calista.

"You will never..." Calista tried to say before falling into darkness.

Jace smirked as he saw Calista losing her consciousness.

She was still the feisty, brave woman he had known since he was a little boy. A little boy with an unfulfilled revenge to take.

Jace picked up Calista in bridal style and vanished just as Tiffany von Stein came in running.

Oops! Sorry to leave you all like this. I didn't want to (I actually wanted to. Bawahahah! I'm evil) but I had to because I originally wanted it to be a short story.

There is a sequel coming up in Spring or something because I have a major writer's block I can't write a single word.

I typed chapter 1 and I stared it for half an hour before I shut off my laptop and went to sleep. Major reason can be because I have nothing to do like absolutely nothing and I keep scrolling down my Instagram and Snapchat for hours because I am so bored. Holidays make me so lazy and apparently give me writer's blocks too.

I am really sorry but the sequel will take a few months, but once I start the updates would be weekly as usual.

The second book is called Planebound and it would start by some major revealing, that's the only thing I can tell you because.... that's what I know yet...so yeah.

Anyways have an amazing New Year! I'll see you guys in 2017.

Do check out my other story My Version Of Love on my account. It's the first full story I have written.
