"Olive." I look at August as June blushes, clearly embarrassed. "What do you use for your...for your period?" They're both clearly embarrassed, whispering the word 'period'.

"Didn't your mom tell you?" They both shake their heads, their black curly hair shaking around their heads as their walnut colored eyes wished they never began this talk.

"Our Mom died from cancer a few years ago." June looks at her lap as August talks. She rarely talks.

I nod and walk towards them, sitting in the front seat and turning to them as Chase continues to fill the canisters. He has two left before he walks in on this conversation a girl never walks to be caught having. "Why do you ask about that?"

"W-We're in sixth grade. We haven't been given the talk yet." August pipes up. They're both blushing, beet red I would say but it jut makes their tannish skin darker. I can't make up my mind if their black or Indian, but I would have to guess both.

"Again, why do you ask?" I cross my arms against my chest as I lean on my seat. Chase fills the last canister and starts to put them with the others. I already marked them down.

"W-We both started ours today and..." Chase sits in his seat in the drivers seat and puts his keys in the ignition, but not start it. He looks at me and lifts a brow. I look at the twins and they both zip their lips.

"You'll have to talk about it in front of him. We'll be around each other for a while."

They nod, August taking a deep breath as Chase turns in his seat to them. June squeezes Augusts hand. "We don't know what to do."

"What about?" Chase asks as I nod slowly.

I turn to him and June squeals as the words flow out of my mouth, "Menstrual cycles." He blushes and nods. We turn to the twins. June's head is against Augusts shoulder as her sister looks at the ground. "You'll start with pads but as you get older you'll use tampons. We'll need to pack up on them anyway–and condoms because Chase is a boy, but we can go into that talk later."

"They'll be expired by the time we find anyone who I would even think about doing that with." He barks. I roll my eyes and look at the twins.

"Either way we'll be going to City Market next and be basically taking their entire stalk of it, along with food and toothpaste and toothbrushes and the clothes and medicine they have there. We can talk about it more later okay?" They nod and Chase and I turn to the front. Chase takes off down the road and I tune in on the radio.

"It won't work." I look at Chase. "There's no cell towers up anymore to even carry static." I leave it alone. Our phones won't work either, but I already put them down in inventory and put them in a bag I picked up before we left the school. A bag for things that won't work, but could use in another way. I also put in a radio and wiring and lightbulbs. I hum a song my sister told me. She's probably dead at the high school. We should check the high school.

"We should go to the high school."

"Why?"

"Because we could see if my sisters alive." I look at Chase through the rearview mirror. He's checking it every five seconds.

"She's probably dead. We need weaponry." I sigh and nod as he speeds down the highway. I add more rules.

Rule #5
Have a vehicle

Rule #6
Have supplies, extra supplies and more supplies

Rule #7
Only have necessary items

Rule #8
Have a person on watch at all times

I look up and we're at City Market. Chase parks the van in front of the doors and I unbuckled. The twins follow and I hope out and take a cart, June and August take one too. "Chase, stay here and guard the van. We can't have it stolen if people are alive here and if their hurt you know what to do. And I know you have a pocket knife so use it." He sighs and nods, taking it out of his pocket as his hand shakes. We go inside and I look at the twins. "Stay together and don't loose this list. It's for inventory."

They nod. August takes it from me as I head down the other way. I go tot the middle aisle and grab chocolates upon chocolates upon chocolates. I go down another and take hair ties, scissors, razors, shaving cream, shampoo and conditioner–bathroom needs basically. When I get to the pads and tampons do I realize I'll need another cart. I quickly run and get another one and fill it to the top with girls needs. I walk to the medical part and take bandaids, chopsticks and bottles of pills for cramps. I grab Tshirts from the rack with our school logo and hats from it as well and hoodies. We'll need layers.

Soon August and June walk up to me. Their basket is full and I heard then yelling across the store. We drop off what we got at the van. I notice Chase has blood splattered on his face. "What happened?" I ask as June and August hold onto the carts. I take a Kleenex and wipe it off his face.

"Th-T-This man ran up to me missing a-a-a-an arm and I-I stabbed him. He was trying to take the van a-an-and-"

"You did the right thing. If he was missing an arm you did him a favor," I say. "Where's he now?"

"H-He ran into the store a-and I thought he was going to a-attack you s-so I s-stabbed him in t-the chest b-before he made it to the d-door."

"Where's his body?"

Chase gulps, racking his hand through his hair as I keep wiping the blood off his face. "H-He kept moving and ran around the building."

I bite the inside of my cheek and nod, "we should go before anyone else shows up." He nods and helps us load things up. I take inventory of everything I got as the twins share something again. "I'll tell you how to do it later. We need to get our things first." I look at them and they nod. I know what they want to know, so I'll tell them later.
