WHAT MAKES SOMEONE A SUPERHERO? If you had asked Madeline Summers when she was a child, she would have said her parents. They were her heroes, saving the world from the shadows, never once getting credit for their actions, but they were still heroes. She was determined to be just like them, a hero who could help better the world.

SO THAT'S WHAT SHE DID. At age eighteen, Madeline Summers is recruited by SHIELD, a government organization that had a particular interest in her and her family. They had been observing the Summers family for years, and the first chance they got, they were able to get their hands on Madeline.

HER UNIQUE QUALIFICATIONS MADE HER one of their best agents. Whenever Director Fury needed someone to go undercover and extract personal information from a target, she was his first choice. No one else was ever able to get in the target's head like she could.

ALL WAS WELL UNTIL A MISSION GONE WRONG, and Madeline retires from SHIELD, saying she can't risk anything like that again. She won't risk anything like that again. Although her partner hadn't been injured, had it been anyone else, they could have been dead. One mistake and she went from being on top of the world to being terrified of her abilities.

THREE YEARS LATER, Madeline is still out. She had a small house about an hour outside of the city, and was close enough to home to visit her family whenever her heart desired. Her life was mundane, and no one knew that she was any different from them. As far as her neighbors knew, she was the local librarian who would sit and read with any children who came into the library, never raising her voice or doing anything out of the ordinary.

ENTER PERSEUS STORMBORN, her former partner from her time at SHIELD. He was a force to be reckoned with, one of the best agents SHIELD had the pleasure of recruiting, as he liked to remind everyone. The two had been close during their time as coworkers, being each other's confidants and closest friends, never once doubting that the other cared for them. So when Perseus showed up at her job one night after closing, she's not surprised.

THEN HE BREAKS THE NEWS. Not only does Fury want her back in the field, but Barton's been compromised. Although she had never been close with Barton before, barely having known the man, she asks what changed. That's the moment Madeline realizes that there's something bigger going on.

THERE'S A FUCKING GOD ON THE LOOSE, and Fury is trying to assemble a team to take him down, starting with the two of them. Part of Madeline wants to run and hide, not wanting to have anything to do with SHIELD ever again, but another part of her longs to be the hero like her parents once were.

NOW SHE HAS A CHOICE TO MAKE, stay hidden away and watch as a crazed god attacks the world, or become the hero she's always wanted to be.

Welcome to Indestructible! This book is part of the Shatterproof Series, which features my stories set within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Additionally, this story does somewhat crossover with Bee's Anthem of the Mighty series, and a complete crossover with Liz's book, Thunderstruck.
