Background:
Sonali was born to two very affluent parents but was taught to stay humble and be generous. When she was 10 her and her mother were kidnapped and held hostage for eight months. She was intimately and harshly abused, causing a great amount of trauma. Sonali then went to therapy for six years during school and has had a lot of healing but can still get triggered by places that remind her of where she was held hostage. She gained a close group of supportive friends with her younger brother and worked through all of school. She then got into a very prestigious college that is well known for their science programs. This is where circumstances split.

Sonali is working behind the bar, hair up and uniform on. She makes your drink and chats with you for a bit while you wait. She then heads to the end of the bar and your friend shows up. After half an hour and all the group arriving, the last person to sit down is Sonali, now wearing light makeup, hair down, and a blue cocktail style dress.

You are a close friend of Sonali's and are going to a celebration of her getting her a large promotion at the university. You had been interested in Sonali for a long time but she had been in a long term relationship and broke it off recently because she discovered he was a part of her childhood trauma. You had comforted her through that hard night and now almost three weeks later you were debating over whether you could ask her out.

You are a new professor at the prestigious college and are meeting your new co-workers at a lunch meeting before the fall session starts up. A woman walks up and introduces herself as your "partner professor" who will help you find resources and build your class materials according to the college standards.
