She believes in trust, teamwork and friendship to the point she trusts everyone too easily, she believes that everyone has a heart and that kindness is the key to surviving. She cares deeply for everyone to an unhealthy extent to the point she puts her own health and safety aside to keep the peace and make everyone happy, she tries to help others even if she knows that person will hate her in return. She is too optimistic for her own good,  thinking no one will die and that she will survive her illness even though the fact she was dying is already obvious. She is an airhead and a bit gullible. When her illness gets worse, she tends to be panicked often but her kind side never disappears, though at times she feels a bit depressed by the fact she's dying.

Backstory: When she was younger, her father had always been busy with work so she would always be left behind with her mother. While left with her mother, her mother was often sneaking out drinking so when she got home she would be drunk always abused her physically, emotionally and mentally. Most often she would beat her, starve her, and insult her. Though Ayaka always thought of running away from home, she never did out of fear that her mother would go after her (she was young okay XD), she didn't want to see her father sad about her leaving either. Every morning she was left with nothing to eat, she was also locked at the attic until evening, in the evening her mother would come home drunk and abuse her, when her dad came home late was the only time she was fed. Each time her dad noticed a bruise, she would always smile and deny it out of fear of her mother and not wanting her dad to be sad. One day, Ayaka's father never came home and it infuriated her mother, making the abuse worse, and it was only after a few weeks did Ayaka realize her father died, that led her to becoming a selective mute. During that time, she would find old paints in the attic (where she was often locked) and made artworks of how she thought life was like outside the attic and how she felt. After a few more years, when she was 12, her mother was drunk and angry, she dragged Ayaka out and beat her outside in public, after a long beating  her mother hit the bottle on her head leading to a concussion, only then did someone help her and she was brought to the hospital. At the hospital, she was operated on since the hit did severe damage to her brain. After the operation she was immediately adopted by the people that saved her. While under their custody, she continued to make paintings about different things, and began to sell them, though while that was happening they noticed she often had headaches and she was very forgetful. When they went to the doctor for a check up, the doctor said that Ayaka was diagnosed with an incurable disease that the longest time she could live was until she was 15 years old. Her parents had decided to not tell Ayaka for the longest time, sending her to different doctors though none helped. It was only a month after she was scouted by Hope's Peak Academy because of her paintings spreading worldwide that she had her first seizure and that was the only time she realized there was something wrong with her. When she asked about it, her parents gave her a little pep talk. All Ayaka did was smile and said, "Its okay! I know I can get through this! I wont die!" she said and left it at that. After a few months she pushed herself to enter Hope's Peak, her parents didn't agree at first, but they decided to at least let her do something she wanted to do before she died.
