Ayana's P. O. V

Got bless whoever decided to call me right now.

Because after the imbecile remark, I want-sorry need this escape.

I dig my phone out on the first ring and answer it without checking caller ID, pretending nothing just happened.

To say I don't regret it now, a few seconds later, would be the biggest lie of my life.

Because when my cousin speaks up from the other end, I wish I would have just hugged Ethan and probably stayed in that awkward moment.

"Hello, you picked up on the first ring? You're so bored of yourself?" she taunts and I sigh before looking towards the sky and frowning.

Why god? Why!?

"You called me to fish for compliments?" I ask and she laughs sarcastically.

"I don't need to call people for compliments Ayana and you'd be last on anyone's list. Anyway, I don't want to make unnecessary conversation, I just called to tell you that because of some urgent work, I've had to come back to town. I've reached and I'm coming to your place to take the keys for my house. You, however can continue living there till mother comes back, I want to enjoy my peace for a little longer. Meet me at your apartment in fifteen, and I'm hungry, so keep something ready for me, poison free," she barked her orders at me like I'm her freaking slave but I am too shocked and freaked out to react to that.

Oh no, this is not happening, she's coming to the apartment, shit shit shit shit...

"Yeah, whatever," I try to sound as calm as possible and hang up before frantically dialing Krisanne's number with shaky fingers. My pulse has quickened and I can feel the heat in my hands, the adversity of the situation settling in and making every hair on both my hands rise.

"What happened Ayana? you look like you just spoke to a ghost on the phone," a concerned Ethan walks up beside me and starts scrutinising my face, his lips set in a straight line and his eyebrows slightly rising.

"Kind off," I say truthfully.

Yeah, my cousin is as good as a ghost so I wouldn't be lying if I said yes.

Krisanne picks up in the third ring."Yeah?"

"Run and hide Krisanne, it's the cousin calamity."

**************************

"Ayana, I'm barely fitting in here!" Ethan grumbles from below my bed.

"Just shut up and stay there!" I grit and he huffs in frustration.

"Why do I have to do this?" he says in frustration, his eyes narrowed and his shoulders slightly raised.

"Because not doing it is as good as inviting adversity for a date," I say with a raised eyebrow, fair warning in my tone.

He simply rolls his eyes and runs a hand through his hair or at least tries. I leave him to that.

After I hung up on Krisanne, I practically sprinted on the road and reached home. Krisanne was in the middle of clearing everything from the hall like all the breakfast plates and coffee cups, some of our washed clothes hanging on the drill outside to dry, the gaming console out- in short anything that suggests that more than one person is currently residing in this house.

My old room and the room that my parents used were untouched so I didn't have to worry about them. All the takeout food for six people in the fridge is also nothing to bother about because I have a good appetite, I can easily say it was all for me and she would buy it.

The crockery however, needs to be washed and stocked away because all the pans or any cooking equipment is supposed to be dusty when I'm the only one because I don't cook, at all.

With that thought, I had cleant everything in the kitchen, making sure to maintain my distance from the stove.

Yeah, I don't even step near it. Call me paranoid now, but if you would have to go through what I went through, you would probably never step into the kitchen.

After that I walk out and immediately start hiding Ethan, who was behaving like a toddler this whole time.

Vihaan came home and took Amber away so she wouldn't be spotted. Rey has to go with Krisanne, and they'll be leaving in a minute. Ethan, however, is leaving no chance to torture me.

I told him to stay with Vihaan and not come home but he followed me like a freaking puppy and I couldn't stop him because I was busy sprinting.

Krisanne can't take him because she's going with Rey for their round of qualifiers and even though she offered, I didn't want to send him because that would be distraction for Krisanne. Not like Ethan agreed to go anyway.

Good, now suffer under the bed.

I shift all of Amber's luggage and Krisanne's bags into the closets and dump all their clothes from outside into the cupboards.

Yeah, Ethan walked in on that mess.

In my defence, I helped Krisanne and Rey clear the guy's room earlier which was worse.

Just when I set the curtains straight, finally finishing all the hiding and covering, the doorbell rang.

Gauri.

I take a deep breath and check myself for anything that suggests what I've been doing.

After I assess my self, I walk to the door. All the way to the door, I mentally pray that for the sake of these remaining five days and the five other people, nothing goes wrong.

I swing the door open and just like I had guessed, my cousin, Gauri, is standing there, leaning against the door frame, hands crossed on her chest, a signature taunting smirk on her face.

"Ayana."

"Gauri."

"I'm not so thin," she says when I intentionally don't move from the way to let her in,"I'm going to need a little more space than that to walk in."

I move aside and she cautiously proceeds ahead. The moment she's near me, I have to really control my leg from putting itself out there and making her fall face first. I wouldn't be doing anything wrong since I picked it up from her and she knows it, hence she's cautious.

Like I said, if it weren't for the five days and the five people, I would have actually done it. I would have missed no opportunity.

Judge me all you want but it's the truth, I'm no angel from heaven.

She looks over her shoulder at me, her eyes slightly narrowed. She's probably shocked too that I didn't even try.

"Don't worry Gauri, I don't suddenly like you. I just don't want you to wait for longer. I'll bring you the keys, take them and leave," I say trying to send her off from the door itself but she didn't budge, like always.

Her mother, that's my mother's sister and Gauri herself have their eyes set on this house for forever. Yeah, it probably sounds like a daily soap feud and you would probably think that people like this don't exist, but they do.

These people are like leeches, they'll suck everything out of you and then leave you like they didn't know you at all.

The good thing with me and the difference between my life and daily soap is that these people are upfront and open about it. They do what they do openly and their not two faced.

I couldn't be more thankful because trust me, it's easier like this.

Gauri wants my money like the way her mother always wanted my mother's, simply because her happiness can be bought with money. They're jealous and they show it. They hate me also only because of this reason, or this is the reason I know off.

So Gauri leaves no chance to be here, even if it means she has to be with me.

"What's the hurry, I've just come back and I'm hungry, so let me eat something first," she says and moves to the kitchen while I groan.

What the hell.

************************

Gauri removed food for herself and strolled through the house while eating it.

She strolled and finally reached the danger area.

"That's my room," I say in a harsh tone, clearly suggesting that she should not go in there.

"I know your suggesting I don't go in there, but I'll still go anyway," she says and walks in and my breath is caught in my throat. She doesn't scream so Ethan is still well hidden. I walk in behind her and she's looking very carefully almost as if she's searching for something. When she feels my presence behind her, she looks at me and her expression changes.

Just then her eyes move to the floor near the bed and up before her eyes narrow and she immediately looks there again.

"What!? See an insect your scared off," I ask and she glares at me.

"No, I thought I saw someone's leg," she says and inspecting that area again and she tries to bend but her extremely tight and short dress doesn't allow it. She tries to bend by adjusting it and I had to bite my lip to control my laughter.

Just then, I hear a pop sound and my eyes widen. She immediately straightens up and she's looking everywhere but at me. Just then a muffled burst of laughter comes and I know she hears it. She looks down first but she doesn't see anything and I immediately cover my mouth, pretending it was me.

She looks up and her nostrils flare. She walks towards the door in frustration but turns just before she's about to go out.

"Get me my keys and also a pair of jeans," she says and walks out and I scoff.

I turn to walk to my wardrobe to get my keys when I hear the door close.

I turn and narrow my eyes at it.

Must be the wind.

I let it go and take the keys out before turning around and walking to the door again. I hold the door knob and pull it but it doesn't budge.

I pull harder and try to turn it slowly, it still doesn't budge.

"Shit, it's not opening," I curse under my breath when the door to my room doesn't open even after more attempts.

"It's what?" Ethan whisper yells and I glare at him.

"It's jammed," I tell him and I shake the door slightly, when I hear a metal piece shaking and banging against the handle.

Oh, so that was not the wind huh?

I sigh at her cheap tricks.

"She locked me intentionally, and unintentionally us," I say and he slips out from under the bed and stands up.

He's about to say something but I cut him off when I put my finger on my mouth and widen my eyes in anger. Then I jut my finger in the direction of the door before I mouthing 'She's outside'.

He rolls his eyes and walks over to me and stands considerably close before bending and whispering,"How can she lock us from outside," he asks and I step back slightly before whispering.

"She's put something in the door handle and probably stuck it against the door," I say and walk around him and settle on the bed.

Just then my cell phone pings. I remove it to check it's a message from Gauri.

Even though I needed the keys I didn't want to miss the opportunity to lock you in so you can sleep peacefully...and probably starve yourself too. Don't think too much about how I did it, your small brain is not capable of it. So stay there, alone, because that's what you'll always be.

"Now, we'll just go to sleep and wait for Krisanne to come home and release us," I whisper and point at the small couch near the washroom door.

He looks at me like I grew another head. I run a hand down my face before grabbing a pillow and blanket and moving to the couch.

He suddenly steps in the way and takes it away from my hand before going there himself.

He settles on the couch and I settle on the bed, going deep into my thoughts.

**************************

A/N- Don't kill me already.

Okay so my college has finally started, yayyy, I'm so excited. I'm finally pursuing my dream course and I'm going to love what I'm doing.

And yeah, I've been mentioning that I want to complete the book and I planned to do it before it starts but I can't do it because it would mean doing it in a rush and you guys don't deserve shit for taking time out and reading this.

So I didn't. And I'm probably going to update very very very slowly now because I literally don't even have time to breathe, but I'll make sure it will be good.

So I hope you guys enjoyed this chapter.

Please excuse my typos.

Don't forget to vote or comment :)
