Not a lot of people understand this; hold yourself higher than other people. I'm not saying treat other people like they're nothing compared to you.
I'm also not saying hold yourself high to a point where you think you can do something wrong and not get in trouble for it. But the type of pedestal you should put yourself on is one where you are good enough to say no and back it up.
"Do you want a drink?" Someone asks.
"No, I'm good." You say.
"Come on, don't be a party pooper." They whine.
You should be able to have yourself up there to a point where you don't need to do that because they asked or said to.
You should be able to look them dead in the face and straight up tell them "No."
A good ego isn't a big ego. You have to have an ego, though. Just make sure you are equally worth as much as others. But it's their step to take to a big ego. Big egos tend to belong to karens
