                                Chapter 4

I dropped the smoking gun to the floor.

I couldn't believe that I'd just shot her.
She was going to die and it was all my fault.
“Oh my god.” I muttered in disbelief.

I felt light headed, dizzy, I fell against the car, leaning on it for support. That's when I saw a phone lying on the backseat. A somewhat calming wave of relief washed over me.

I pulled the handle.
This door was locked aswell.
I picked up the gun and, once again, used the stock to break the window. I grabbed the phone.

My hands trembled uncontrollably, it took me three tries before I finally got the phone number right.

“911, what is your emergency?”

The words burst out of my mouth in a panicked rush,

“I need help! There's a- a woman she's, uhh, she was in a crash and, she-, she was shot, she needs help, I think she's dying, oh god, she's really dying, please send help, she's losing alot of blood!”

“Sir, you have to slow down. Did you say she's been shot?”

“Yes, yes she was shot in the chest- wait, no, the shoulder.”

“Sir, calm down, please, I can't understand you. What happened?”

I stayed silent for brief moment, breathing heavily.

“I shot her, It was a mistake, I swear, I didn't mean to, I'm so sorry.”
I broke down and began to cry.

“Alright sir, try to stay calm, where are you?”

“Uhh, the woods, we're in the woods.”

“Sir, you'll need to be more specif-”

“StantonMoor Forest, we're not far off from the main path entrance, please, hurry.”

“Alright, stay where you are, officers are on the way.”

Bang

I instantly went deaf. I could hear nothing but an incessant ringing in my ears.

My vision was blurry, distorted, everything around me seemed to be pulsating.

An indescribable pain rapidly worsened in my right arm.

I looked down slowly. I felt like sick to my stomach after seeing the gaping hole in my shoulder, and the unbelievable amount of blood gushing from the wound.

The ringing in my ears stopped for brief moments, then began again, stopped, began, stopped, began, fading in and out.

I could hear him outside, he was yelling, but not at me. I gathered all my remaining strength and leaned forward to look through the passanger window.

He calmly paced back and forth, holding something in his hand, holding it up to his ear, it seemed like he was talking to it.

I glanced at the backseat through the rear-view mirror, the one window had been smashed in and my phone was missing from the seat.

He was talking to someone on my phone, leaving me here to bleed to death.

I tried listening to his conversation, I couldn't make out much of what he was saying.

“Woman-...shot-...die-...blood-...”, were the only intelligible words.

I didn't know who he was on the phone with, but It was eerie-, no, beyond eerie, it was unnatural, hair-raising, spine-tingling.

He spoke with such fear in his voice, such worry, but his face lacked any and all emotion. Truly the epitome of a psychopath.
