YOU SAT INSIDE the back of a van, Claire was telling you something, but you weren't listening until Gray grabbed your hand. You were sitting between them. Zach also reached for your hand.

Claire slammed the doors shut, blocking your view of your Raptor, who was inside the cage, meeting with Owen's Velociraptors.

Then you heard them release the pack of predators. Barks of excitement and the sound of engines turning on filled your ears. You could easily decipher Foxtrot's loud shrill from the girls'.

Then you powered on your tablet, staring through the night-vision camera attached to Foxtrot. You had demanded one after giving Owen your clicker.

Zach and Gray watched over your shoulder. Foxtrot was navigating through obstacles effortlessly, leading the pack alongside Blue, who snapped at him every once in a while, but he'd snap back.

Then his head turned and you caught a glimpse of Owen; he was on a motorcycle, riding in the middle of the pack.

"Your brother's a badass too," Zach blinked in awe. Gray didn't even say anything.

The three of you continued to focus on the screen, observing the Velociraptor pack begin to slow and peel off to the left, entering a small clearing. Soldiers fanned out of vehicles and hid behind fallen logs.

The pack was situation at the edge of the clearing, staring uncertainly at a wall of hanging vines. The sound of heavy footsteps caught Foxtrot's attention as he hissed, taking a step back.

Then the creature -- which Hoskins and Claire had identified as the Indominus Rex -- seemed to appear out of thin air.

"Camouflage," muttered Gray.

The Indominus stepped out of the vines, clicking and barking at the Raptors. They were communicating!

Shit.

You saw the other Velociraptors turning to stare blankly at the humans, but Foxtrot was backing away, growling and hissing at the others, including the Indominus.

The white beast roared at Foxtrot, barking in Raptor at him. Foxtrot only snarled before turning tail and racing away.

You dropped the tablet as you whirled to stare through the small window at Claire's tablet. It showed the soldiers firing at the Raptors and the Imdominus, which fell before getting back up and vanishing.

Owen's Raptors began killing off several humans, and you managed to watch Charlie get exploded while looking at Owen curiously before Claire slammed the window shut so that you and the boys couldn't see anymore.

"Y/n, Y/n, look!" Gray shook your arm as you sat back down, pointing at the tablet. Foxtrot was sprinting, and suddenly Echo was beside him.

He growled at her and she responded with a hiss. Then they stopped racing and faced off. Foxtrot lunged at her, clawing the side of her neck while she bit down on his tail, forcing him into a tree before turning and running away.

You were about to curse when something hit the van's doors. They swung open to reveal a panicked soldier.

"Go! They're coming!" Then the brownish figure of Echo landed on his back, slamming his face into the floor of the van.

Claire pressed the gas pedal, lurching forward. The tablet was forgotten on the floor as Gray clung to you, crying.

Echo looked up, noticing the departing van and its open door. She shook herself before charging after you.

She was gaining, and quickly. Zach screamed at Claire to go faster, but you heard her screaming. Then Echo was right behind the van, snarling.

Zach reached for one of the electrocution poles and powered it on, but it took a moment, and a moment too long. Echo launched herself into the van.

You and Zach, once it finally powered on, shoved it toward her. Echo fell back and you shared a brave smile briefly with Zach. Then pain climbed up from your leg.

Your foot was yanked out from under you, Echo's jaws closed tightly around your ankle. Zach grabbed your hand and tried keeping you inside the van, but your hands were sweaty and you slipped from his grasp.

You tumbled on the ground with Echo, who had released your leg as she rolled with you.

You landed in the dirt, coughing. You tried to stand, but your ankle hurt too much. You were dead meat.

Echo shook herself as she stood, refocusing her attention on you. She hissed and slowly approached you with the knowledge that you couldn't escape.

As she was about to lunge at you and finish you off, something orange barreled into her side, flinging her away. The striped Velociraptor roared defiantly, baring his larger teeth at her.

Echo climbed to her feet and began to circle you and Foxtrot, who followed her movements, not giving her a chance to harm you again. The van was long gone by now, but you didn't feel scared anymore. Foxtrot would die for you.

Echo was about to launch another attack when a thunderous roar sounded, catching your attention. The female Raptor turned to snarl at Foxtrot and you before turning and disappearing into the jungle. Further away, you saw Delta vanish into the trees as well.

Once he was sure that you were no longer in danger, Foxtrot turned to you. He stood patiently as you attempted to stand again, only to fall.

Another roar.

Foxtrot was getting anxious now, and, instead of letting you get up, he crouched down to the ground.

It took you a heartbeat to realize what he was doing. And, even then, you were unsure if that was what he actually meant.

But there was no time to waste as a third roar echoed through the night. You cautiously crawled to him and pulled yourself onto his back.

Carefully, you positioned yourself comfortably and he stood with a soft bark. You wrapped your arms loosely around his neck, leaning against his head.

With another bark, Foxtrot took off quickly. You held tightly, afraid of falling off.

But you were so excited and happy. You were the first and only person to ride a Velociraptor! Even Owen hasn't accomplished that. Not only that, but your bond with Foxtrot was strong enough to allow this to happen. You felt pride surge through you.

Foxtrot made a sound that resembled a rumbling purr, sensing your ease and glee. He leaped a fallen log, jarring you, but you held on tight. What were you going to do about the Indominus, anyways? Bullets barely did a thing against it, Blue and the pack turned, and the island was evacuated.

"Looks like we're alone in this. We're the heroes in this story, Foxy, just you and me..."

You remembered something you had thought to yourself when you were with Zach and Gray in that tree. You smiled into Foxtrot's itchy scales.

I guess there is a striped Velociraptor hero after all.
