Adrien left the couch, forgot his grief for his beloved cat for the moment, and answered the door.   There sat a basket with twin babies asleep inside it.

      What was he to do?

He checked to see if there was a note.

       He saw none and frowned.

Who abandoned these cute, little, innocent ones in the harsh winter weather?

He picked up the basket, carried it to the living room, closed the door, latched it, and returned to the babies.

He did not know a thing about being a father.

He had a bad example from his father.

He set them gently back into the basket and wrapped the blankets around them.

He looked for milk in the kitchen.

He found some and pulled a few eye droppers out of the cabinet.

He fed one baby, then the other, and burped them.

Adrien read somewhere babies have horrible gas if not burped.

Agh, he had forgotten to change their diapers.

Adrien searched for diapers everywhere and found a small bag by the basket.

He opened it and found the things he needed inside.

He changed the first twin girls' diaper, then her sisters.

He thought of names for them.

Alana  Nicole for one, and Bailey Lou for the other.

Adrien took the girls, the basket he found them in, and the diaper bag with him to his room.

As he watched them sleep, he sighed. He would have to contact the adoption agency soon and explain what happened.

He hoped it worked out because he did not like the thought of his daughters with someone else.

The story continues in Chapter 2 Keep the Girls a Secret

til then,

bye-bye, little owlets!

Summer out!

PS. Do not copy the story, or the twin's names. I named the first twin in memory of my friend by the same name who died 4 years ago. I sure miss her a lot even though she is in heaven.
