Years ago, I wrote a short story about a gatekeeper who allows a woman to enter a forbidden place. Recently, this story came back to my mind, and I turned it into a novel. I delved into questions about who this girl is, why she wants to cross into the guarded place, what this forbidden place is, and what is being so closely guarded.
