The sounds of battle could be heard in the windclan camp, the WindClan cats were no longer fighting for the right to live here, they were fighting for their lives. The ShadowClan cats would kill to win, so they must fight. Tallstar was watching his clan mates fall one by one, and it pained him, he knew they would have to retreat. Tallstar raised his voice and said, "WindClan retreat!" He said. The fighting stopped, and Brokenstar let out a yowl of victory, that the other cats joined in. Mudclaw said, "Tallstar, are we really going to stop fighting?!" He said. Tallstar said, "Yes, we have to, we can't loose anymore cats." He said with a pang of regret. Brokenstar shouted, "That's right, ShadowClan won, remember that next time you challenge us!" He said Blackfoot added, "If there is a next time!" He said.

The shadowclan cats started shouting victory as well. Tallstar said, "You may have beaten us, but we will return!" He said but he saw the doubtful looks of his cats and he frowned. Brokenstar said, "Oh, you won't come back." He said. An apprentice yowled, "He will chase us!" They said. Clawface said, "Why would we waste time chasing you?" He said with a snort. Brokenstar shut him up with a glare. Tallstar said, "I'm sorry my cats, but we must leave." He said the cats looked sadly back at the camp, now overrunned with ShadowClan cats, but they started to walk away.

Brokenstar said, "Let's feast my cats!" He said and gived a glare at the WindClan cats, and walked away. Deadfoot said, "Tallstar, what will we do?" He said. "We will go as far away as we can, lets rest at Barley's farm first, I'm sure he will welcome us." He said Barkface said, "I will look for a sign form StarClan" He said A cat yowled, "StarClan?! They have let shadowclan win!" They said but Barkface didn't reply, he just looked at the stars. Tallstar thought, 'is this the end of Windclan?'.

Tallstar and Barkface were sitting outside of there hopefully temporarily home, Tallstar asked, "Have you gotten any sign from StarClan?" He asked. Barkface said, "No, Tallstar, I haven't." He said. Just than a shooting star passed through the skies, and Tallstar looked up. Barkface said, "That was a sign, Fire alone will save our clan." He said Tallstar said, "Fire?" He questioned. Barkface nodded, and Tallstar looked thoughtful. He thought, 'I wonder what that means.'
