Damien walked out of his room, getting a strange look from Virgil. Where was he going? It was late and Damien was never that dressed up so late. He was usually already wearing something comfortable to chill watching a movie or something before heading to bed- but, of course, Damien kept changing more and more, becoming a person Virgil didn't know. The youngest brother followed him to the stairs, peaking from the railing to see or hear if something went down between him and their parents.

Just as Damien's hand touched the knob of the front door, he was called, making him let out a groan and roll his eyes before turning to his father. Another new thing... Damien had never reacted like that to being called unless it was jokingly and he was with Virgil. Something was definitely up- and he was going to find out what it was. No matter what it took.

"Yes, father?" Damien asked with a hint of a mocking undertone. Virgil's frown deepened at that, but he stayed quiet. He looked at his father, barely able to see his face. But he could tell by his body language and posture that he wasn't pleased by Damien's behavior. "I have a party to attend to, so, please, make it quick." A party? Since when Damien went to parties?

He grabbed his phone and started filming what was going on downstairs, hoping the quality of the audio wouldn't be too shitty.

"A party? You have school tomorrow. You are going to bed and hope that your mother doesn't find out about this," their father said, to which, Damien only rolled his eyes. "Your friend died and you're only thinking about ruining lives."

Damien crossed his arms and raised an eyebrow. "Well, yeah. That's what I do. Now, Patton died a week and a half ago. I'm not going to be mourning him forever," he said. "I am 17, father. I'm not going to stay home forever. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go. I wouldn't want to ruin my reputation to keep yours," he said.

The next thing Virgil heard was the front door slamming shut. He flinched and went back to his room. Hell was breaking loose and he didn't want to get caught in it... but he didn't want to lose his brother, who seemed to change so fast and go from his usual loving self to... that in seconds for no apparent reason.

Then, like a bolt of lightning hitting you when you least expect it, it all clicked together for Virgil.

That wasn't his brother.

The first day Damien started acting weird was the day after they contacted J.D. It started with little things that no one but he and Roman noticed. The slushy... then the panic attack, Damien saying that he didn't want to hurt anyone... why would his brother, who had never really hurt a single soul, say that? His intrusive thoughts... something he didn't remember Damien having before all that. There were so many pieces that it made him feel stupid for not realizing it sooner. What kind of brother was he that he didn't realize Damien was disappearing faster and faster?

Patton.

Patton's shakiness when he asked Damien about free period that day as if there was something he was hiding from the rest of the group. Had he even heard from the others in the past two days? He had skipped school, so he hadn't seen them and no one had texted him.

He sat on his bed and grabbed his laptop, sending an email to Roman, Logan, Remy, and Emile with the video attached.

A few minutes later, his phone started ringing. He glanced at it and picked up. "Hello?" he asked, pushing the laptop off his lap and leaning back against the wall.

Roman was on the other end of the call, but what he said brought much more unease to Virgil than it brought relief. Something was going to happen. Something bad.
