Jace

I silence my stupid alarm clock. Slowly, I get up, dreading the unavoidable, going to school. I didn't get a wink of sleep lest night. Every time I closed my eyes, I would see Clary's face. Her Emerald eyes rapidly blinking as she held back tears. Her teeth clamping on her bottom lip, trying to hold in the feelings of betrayal, anger, shock, and maybe even....shame, from coming out in sobs. Shake it off Jace! You're not some 17-year-old who can go and mope around! You're the reason your dad left! You have to replace his job as protector! You have Willow and your family to worry about! Pull yourself together! I quickly get some cereal, brush my teeth, and brush my hair. Thank the Angel Willow is still asleep! As I'm pulling my shirt over my head, I hear my baby girl. I make my way into her room.

"Hey baba," I greet.

"Dada dada dada," Willow calls as I pick her up. "I nummies!" ("I want food!")

"Let's get ome oies and bueberries," I reply. ("Let's get some cheerios and blueberries") We walk downstairs, and I put her in her highchair. Fortunately, Willow seems to be in a good mood today. She eats all of her breakfast in a reasonable amount of time. I get her dressed in an adorable polka dot black and white dress with black pants.

Alec is driving today, and I use this time to plan out what I'm going to do. Okay, I can do as Kaelie says, but do it as nicely as possible. Even if she scolds me, I won't be mean again. I don't want to hurt Clary. I cannot hurt her anymore!

School

I'm doing good. I have it all planned. As I walk into the school, I see Clary. My "plans" fly out the window, and my cowardly body starts walking away form her. However, I have no such luck. Kaelie spots me and stars walking towards me. She puts her hands around my neck. "Put your hands on me and act like your enjoying this now," Kaelie demands. I stiffly wrap my hands around her back.

Kaelie breaks us apart when Clary gets closer to us. "Jacey, it's the naive little slut," Kaelie comments. Clary looks at me for a microsecond then stares at a seemingly interesting sign on the wall. "Hey Slut, don't look at Jace! Only one person gets him.....and newsflash....it ain't you," Kaelie yells. "You're too fat, ugly, disgusting, and pathetic to even look at him, isn't that right Jacey?"

How do I respond nicely to that? Angel! Even my 'nice' won't be enough to not hurt Clary! Looks like another sleepless night in my future. "Clary....it's just that you're.....we're different," I reply. I like that were different! It makes us good friends! Wait, no she isn't my friend. I was so mean to her that she won't want to be my friend. I guess saying we were different was the 'nice' way to put it.

"What I'm not enough like C-" Clary begins. As soon as she says 'like,' I know what name she's going to speak, and I have to stop her. I give her this pleading pathetic look and she seems to understand. She continues smoothly changing the word. "Kaelie?"

"Angel no. You're nothing like Kaelie," I reply, and it's one of the first honest things I've said to her in a while. Clary takes this as a compliment. To the naked eye, it would look like she was insulted, but....to me. I knew how she feels about Kaelie, so I know she likes that I don't think her and Kaelie are the same. What she doesn't know, is that I think she's exponentially better than Kaelie.

Lunch

Kaelie is busy talking to her friends, so she lets me eat by my siblings. Let's just say no one's very talkative today. This unfortunately gives me more time to think. Hurting Clary is killing me inside. I have to stop! Wait, Kaelie....she never....she's never told me what she found out about my past. We....we've never discussed it! What if she doesn't even know? She could be bluffing! I abruptly stand up and earn a few glances. I walk over to Kaelie. "Baby, I need some. Come with me to the music room," I say loud enough for only Kaelie to hear. She giggles and we walk out of the cafeteria.

Once I'm sure we're alone, I ask, "Kaelie what do you know about my past?"

"Jacey, let's not talk right now," Kaelie coaxes. She pulls my lips to hers.

I push her back," Kaelie what do you know?" I demand.

"Jacey, it's not important," Kaelie tries to seduce me. How does she not know that I find her repulsive?

"Kaelie tell me now!" I yell.

"Jeeze.....well....I didn't find anything. I don't know anything," Kaelie confesses.

"Why?" I ask. "Why would you lie to me?"

"I just pretended to, so you'd help me break Clary." As soon as she says that, I run full sprint back into the cafeteria.

"Clary, I can't explain right now. There's an explanation for everything I promise. Just meet me in the custodial closet during Study Hall, please Clary," I beg.

"Jace, why should I talk to you? It's probably some sort of sick trap. Kaelie is probably waiting in there to strike or something," Clary says.

"Clary, please. If you don't come, I'll understand. I...I've been a stupid pathetic sick cruel bastard to you. But if you come, I can try to....to explain why," I beg.
