Prompt: Jackrene and Markerne love triangle

Jackson sat in his Team Wang empire, his eyes casting down to his phone noticing  the notification that had just popped onto his lock screen. Still a picture of her silhouette. He grabbed his phone, his eyes darting to the identification and when he saw it, his heart stopped, his breath catching in his throat within seconds, because there stood a blast from the past he wasn't expecting. Not with the way they fell apart. He breathed in, his throat suddenly becoming dry as he reread the name trying to grasp on to it, trying to make sure that this was real and not another fragment of his imagination, like all the other times his mind and heart had conspired against him. And this time it was real. His mind and heart shunned into silence as they watched their master carefully. The woman that hadn't left his thoughts for a moment. A woman that he was still very much in love with, had just messaged after months of zero communication. His hands began to tremble slightly, the only time they would being in sight of her. His eyes closed momentarily trying and failing to will an ember of courage from the depths of his now dormant heart, until finally he felt himself open it in a trance. She had exchanged short pleasantries; and he could practically hear the shyness from where he was. She hasn't changed, and for that he was glad. He smiled slightly letting his eyes run over the words she had typed finding himself smile until it dropped. And there lay the words he was dreading. 'I'm getting married. Will you be there? I need you there Jack. I miss you. I miss my best friend.' He found himself suffocating as he typed a response back. 'I'm happy for you.' But the tear drops on his screen said otherwise as he found himself now choking on a string of sobs. A king without his destined queen, standing in the empire he had built to give her everything she deserved because in his eyes she was nothing but a goddess, a goddess who deserved to have the world at her feet. He knew she was more than capable in getting it herself, it was one thing that he loved about her and yet in wanting to give it to her, they ended up on opposite sides of the world he was trying to conquer for her. He stood up, moving to stand in front of the large window, his tears blurring his vision as he looked down at the city of Shanghai. Home. That wasn't true. His home was in her arms. It had been from the moment she walked towards him in a white dress, walking towards him with a shy yet beautiful smile as he stood besides her, his sharp red suit contrasting that of her pure white. And that had always been them. Opposites. Yin and Yang, and it was exactly that, that made them so perfect. They challenged each other, they helped each other shape themselves into the very best versions of themselves, because that is exactly what love is. Loving and learning. And together that is exactly what they did. The short moments between them, the little glances away from cameras, the short hand touches as they walked past each other and kisses stolen at the right time made their relationship so beautiful. They were perfect, everyone bowing down to the love the two shared despite the hardships within their industry, designed to test them to their limits, and yet at every hurdle they dealt with it together.

Until things fell apart.

In hindsight it was no ones fault. Life had caught up with them, and that was the reality. He was busy and she, equally. And that's what made them destined to fall apart, yet neither understood that between soulmates a invisible thread held them together. After all they were destined, inevitable. The thread may stretch or tangle but it will never break, yet his heart lay broken along side hers. He wished he could hate the one who now held her hand, who know passed her kisses, the one who marked the skin he had once done, the one who erased his touch completely, but he couldn't. Not when it was his own brother, Mark. He gulped down the poison, the sensation burning his heart as he looked at the storm that ensued from the sky above him. He bit his lip slightly, feeling the storm in his own eyes as he closed his eyes. Mark and Irene were different. He had the one thing he didn't. And that was time. He was always there physically and ultimately that was what he lacked. He cursed under his breath. They weren't like Jackson and Irene. They couldn't be, not when her heart was tied to his, but Jackson deluded himself into believing that Mark was the one for her. Because in his own eyes he was unworthy of her. He leaned his head against the cool glass. He saw the way she smiled with him, and despite the trials and tribulations that the industry brought with it, they had done the one thing Irene and Jackson hadn't. Survive. He punched against the window as Henry walked in, watching his brother break, his own heart constricting at the sight as Jackson fell back in his chair. Henry walked towards him, placing a hand on his head as Jackson looked up to him, and he couldn't help but gasp, because he couldn't, no, he refused to believe that this man, this broken man in front of him was Jackson Wang. "I lost her." He spoke his voice cracking, and Henry found himself at a loss of words as he pulled Jackson into his embrace hoping that he could dim the pain just a fraction, but he knew, there was nothing worse then heartbreak.

Hours had slipped by and he was still in the confides of his office, his eyes tired and numb with fleck of tears shinning through. He looked down to the phone that blared with a message from Wendy.

From Wendy
Are you okay?

From Jackson
Are you?

From Wendy
No I'm not. But he's happy. That's all I wanted.

From Jackson
It hurts.

From Wendy
I know Jack, I know it does, but you're also her best friend, I know how selfish it sounds but she can't do this without you. She's already having doubts. Come home. Stop running from her, and who knows maybe you'll catch her.

From Jackson
She's too far out. I won't be able to catch her, not now. I shouldn't have left.

From Wendy
I know you're regretting your decision all those years back, but Rene? She knew it was apart of you. And she loved it because it was a part of you. She still does. Don't regret it Jackson. Life plays it's games. Come home when you're ready.

From Jackson
Only if you'll be my plus one. I can't go through this alone. And I don't want you to go through it alone either.

From Wendy
Always the best brother. I will. Let's do this together.

He smiled at the screen, yet it was one filled with pain. He closed his eyes, letting his memorise rush forth. After they had broken up, Jackson and Irene had stayed friends, in fact, in its own toxic way they became best friends, never truly healing from each other because a hope stood within the depths of their hearts that they would eventually find their way back to each other. He chuckled bitterly. How wrong they were. His closed eyes blur memories of her, and instead apparitions of her with him cloud his eyes until he can feel himself begging for it to stop. He had so many dreams. Of her being his bride, and then the mother of child, and every other dreams after that consisted of her by his side, and now the one dream that had always meant the most to him would be the one that would remain incomplete.

The following days consisted of him packing and booking tickets for his fight back home. Yes he called it home, because that's where she was, and wherever she was that was where his heart lay. He took a breath as his plane landed, thanking the crew before grabbing the bag he had prepared and walking out to the out-flight section, his heart hammering in his chest at the mere thought of her. And when his eyes fell to her form his footsteps halted, his heart ready to explode as she looked around. She stood besides Mark who looked uninterested in the scene. And considering how close they had always been, that hurt. He watched her eyes fall to him, and when they did, her tried his best to muster up a smile. One that he hoped she couldn't see through, yet she knew him better then anyone, her own happiness knew no bounds as she shoved past her husband to be who fell into Wendy as Irene ran, her petite feet slapping against the marble floor until she jumped into his arms. He could feel the tears, and the small sobs that shook her delicate body as he held her tighter, his own slipping out, because he knew he would never be able to hold her like this again. He set her to the floor gently, wiping away at her tears as she did the same to his. Gently he brought her head forward kissing her forehead before swiftly moving to Wendy who held him tightly in attempts to comfort her brothers bleeding heart.

Irene watched Jackson from the corner of her eyes, smiling and laughing with his friends and joking alongside the girls she called her sisters. It was good to have him home. She missed him. Her best friend and once lover. She moved Mark's arm away from her offering him a smile and kiss to the cheek as she walked out to get some air. He should have stayed put, but he always had a habit of chasing after her, only this time he couldn't capture her in his arms. He walked out, seeing her leaning against the balcony, wishing some words would fall from him mouth. "You're not going to jump are you? I'd hate to have to tell Mark his wife to be couldn't stand the thought of him so she jumped." He watched a smile break out on her features one he hadn't seen in awhile and he himself couldn't help but smile with her. "I've missed you." She whispered and he caught the way her eyes shone in the moonlight. "I've missed you more." More then you'll ever know. He continued in his mind. "I'm glad you're here. I really needed you." She found herself saying. "What's wrong?" He didn't need to know, he could read it in her eyes. And she remained silent. "You're having doubts aren't you?" Her shot up to him, and he smiled at her softly. "You have to decide if you're ready Irene. No one else can make that decision for you. If you're worrying that he's not the right one for you then listen to your heart instead of your mind, It will tell you you're answer." she watched him carefully, her own eyes burning with something that Jackson failed to catch, he squeezed her hand gently before quickly turning to walk away, and when he was sure she wasn't looking back he collapsed against the wall. His own tears now highlighted with the rays emitted from the moon who looked down at the two lovers in dismay.

The wedding day had approached quicker than anticipated, he stood fixing his tuxedo. His eye red from the lack of sleep he received the previous night, at the thought of her becoming Mrs Irene Tuan instead of Mrs Irene Wang. He saw Wendy from the mirror, and he could see the same look in her eyes as she walked to him. "She's asking for you." He gulped nodding slightly as he followed her down, the other girls leaving as they passed him the same look, he smiled at them, his calloused hand grasping the door knob, until a hand reached to his shoulder blade. He turned seeing Yeri offer him a smile. "Don't forget to breathe Kuya." He nodded finally making his way in and when he did, his breath caught in his throat, his eyes watering at the sight. He stepped closer as she stood up, their hands meeting as Jackson moved one to  caress her face, his tears now dropping from the hazel like orbs. "Beautiful." He whispered as she leaned into his touch her own hand on top of his. He wrapped his hand around hers bringing it down as he placed the fist they made to his heart before pressing it against her. A message they had made when they were together. A translation to I love you. She choked on a sob as he placed a kiss to her forehead before rushing out, wiping away at the tears as the girls came back offering him silent comfort, Jinyoung and JB offering him the brotherly love he needed. He smiled at them wiping away the traces of tears from his eyes as he stood by Marks side, fist bumping him, as they waited. A soft tune indicating her arrival. And once again his breath caught. Yet he didn't see the same look in Marks eyes, because he was staring at a bridesmaid instead, and when JB has coughed slightly to gain his attention Mark looked on silently. She walked along the isle about a third of the way, her arm hooked in her fathers until her feet stopped. Her tears flowing. Eyes meeting his as she sobbed, her father understanding. Everyone understanding. Jackson looked towards her stepping off the raised platform before walking towards her. He looked at her father greeting him as the older man blessed him with solemn eyes handing his daughter over to the man she was truly supposed to be with. Yet what they all thought might have happened didn't. Despite the tears that Jackson had no problem in showcasing, he grabbed her hand gently in his own before leading her down the rest of the isle, before placing her hands in Mark's. He turned slightly Jinyoung keeping him upright as the rest began to cry knowing the pain that was being emitted into the room. They heard the priest begin, yet neither Mark nor Irene could bring themselves to say the vows. And Mark looked at her wiping the tears that were still falling. "Jackson." He called as Mark turned back to the brother he had begun to neglect. "She's yours. She always has been. I can't marry her, not when her heart is beating in your chest and yours in hers. This is where she becomes Mrs Irene, Joohyun Jackson Wang. Not Tuan. Because my name was never destined to be at the end of hers." He stepped down pushing Jackson up as Irene and Jackson kissed, a deafening applause resounding in the cathedral as JB squeezed Marks shoulder, who's eyes cast to Wendy's.

Moments later Jackson Wang emerged from the venue, a content smile on his face as he walked across the threshold with his wife, the ring he had been carrying in his back pocket for her all these years now shinning on its rightful owner. He smiled at his wife, leaning down to take her lips again as cheers broke out,
Everything had happened just the way the universe had planned because Irene Bae was always written to be Irene Wang. Always.

The end
