Welp... I thought I already wrote this chapter here and uploaded it, but apparently I didn't! So here ya go T-T

So hello my kiddos, hope you're doing well!

Now, some of you may remember this drawing from April... if not, maybe you wanna check out that chapter there, since this is indeed kinda a continuation ^-^

And as you can remember I absolutely loathed it, my hatred growing larger by the day. So... since I recently already drew some Ruindir pictures I liked a lot, I decided to just fix this picture and turn it into something I'm actually proud of :)

First of all my plan was to just shade everything from scratch again.... until I broke it down to the flats and realised that.... well... that face is not Ruindir-shaped. At all.
So I went back and fixed up the lineart, where I essentially just reworked nose, eyes and face-shape.

And here we then have the final lineart, that I actually am a lot happier with... idk his eyes just have a lot more expression and he looks more focused rather than... whatever the fuck that expression above was

I then edited the flat colours around a bit, and replaced the old tattoos with the new ones. Tbh I just was happy that it finally looked just like it wanted, and with the colours I could already see that I would like the end result, at least a bit more than the previous one.

So when it came to the shading, I obviously started with the skin, since that was the part I was the most anxious about.. I mean... imagine how shitty it would be if I did this whole thing, only for it to look crap again in the end, eh?
So I did the skin, trying to keep the light in mind, but also use what I've learnt to  get a better feeling of depth and expression.

So yeah! Skin was a success, so I decided to continue on with the rest of the piece, working myself through the clothing, actually being really impressed with my development since April. Like... my style hasn't changed at all, just my shading and understanding of light did and it makes huge differences!

Anyways, so after getting the basic shading down, I went ahead with my usual gradients to get a better glowing effect of this weird magic thing going.

And.. well... then I exported the background from the old image and edited a wee bit to fit better and not look as intense and bright..

So yeah..

uh..

here's the final image then!

So that definetely was a great decision of mine.. usually I'm not the biggest fan of revisiting old pieces and "fixing" them when I don't like them, since I personally think it stands in the way of progress and development, but it really was worth it on this one.

Especially since I was so damn proud of all those details and wanted this to be the next "big" drawing of Ruindir, since I barely made any of those... so yeah... definetely was the right decision.

>>cuddles you, pats you, wraps you in blanket and gives you a hot drink<<

Oh! Also... before I leave... remember my thing about critiquing your art? Yeah I made a new book just for that, so maybe pop in to "Fire" who has that new version of Ruindir on it's cover, if ya want some help in regards of your art or so... yeah...

So that's all I got for now... things will be a bit slower again now, since I'm back at school, but I do till hope to keep you guys up to date on my art and get all them old chapters up ^-^
