ouch..... this one was a pain.... in the positive sense, but still haha

Anyways, so.... drawing_Angel666 has this wonderful wonderful contest going on, and the latest topic was "5 minute drawing" ... in other words: "set yourself a timer and let's compare what y'all can do in 5 minutes"

Ngl, I instanyly fell in love with that concept. So I went ahead and nearly instantly gave it a try.

So the thing is, I'm an incredibly slow artist. I take ages for everything, so I was curious for this challenge, simply because I knew the result would be crap xD

And since I knew I had very limited time, I initially thought, that I'd need to know precisely what I wanted beforehand, so I made some thumbnails to decide on an idea and get my wrist warmed up... I made four of them, before settling on idea:

Wwweeelllll....... things didn't go as planned. Do you remember me saying that I'm an extremely slow artist? Yeah... so as soon as I set the timer, I made a rough sketch and the some sketchy "lines" on top and.... welll... ended up with something too "unfinished" and raw for my liking. Nonetheless I added a green bar in the background to make the thing look a bit more visually pleasing and less empty...

BUTT!!! I'm good enough at drawing hands to have even fit two of those in here xD

So yeah... after I realised just how less 5 minutes actually are for a drawing, I decided to yeet my ideas out of the window and rethink. I had a very limited timespace, so I had to work on something I can do fast and still make it looked polished.

Well... the answer to that was rather obvious, since would either be eyes or a portrait, and since the idea of drawing just an eye kinda didn't inspire me a lot, I went ahead and got myself an expression on pinterest and made this little doodle ^-^

(the green box and the signature at the back were made after the 5min mark, but everything else did indeed happen within the timeframe)

So yeah! This ended up being a lot harder than I initially thougt, whilst also being a lot more fun and real challenging for once. I def should try doing some more time challenges in the future, in order to warm up a bit ^-^
