Did I expect to write a chapter today? No.... I actually planned on studying for that german exam on saturday.... but who cares, eh? I finished the pic in time for the deadline!! Yayy!!! Woohoo!!!

So let's get to it then, eh? Again this will be a rather short chapter, but I hope you can bear with me on this, since school is kinda taking all my time, even though I really don't have all that mutch to do.... inch-arresting...

But alas, as you probably read in the title you'll be faced with my drawing for SunnyGeschichten and their contest with the topic: "character from a video game" ... and honestly, I didn't really draw the drawing for the contest, rather than me drawing the picture and in the middle of the process finding the contest and thinking how it actually fits perfectly...

But more about that later, more importantly: Who the fuck am I drawing?

As some of you remember, I drew my video-game avatar from the wonderful, wonderful game "Fantasy Life" in June for a monthly challenge organised by the ArtClub (btw... we still do those and all the prompts are great fun, so maybe check us out >w<)

So that's how my sweet darling looks at the moment, in the outfit that I decided to draw her in. I left away helmet and gloves, since I usually don't wear those... ah, that wonderful moment when your basic stats are op enough for you to wear one of the most low-level armout, not even complete, and still take barely any damage.... played that game way too much xDD

Also, please ignore the low quality, I had to upload this picture of the screen of my 3DS with my tablet (which I used for reference), because I don't have the device around to make a nice screenshot >w<

So that's her, and this is that abomination of a drawing that I made in June 2o19....
oh good lord, I remember hating this drawing on sight and being so pissed with it... and to be honest I still consider it to be one of the worst pieces I ever drew, in regard of my digital art experience xDD

Keep in mind, that was made after  I drew these drawings:

So yeah... very dissapointed at that point.... and recently I dug it out again and I desperately wanted to have a redraw. So I sat down and started making this small sketch:

I then realised, how I was working on a flipped canvas, so I flipped her around and changed the arm-details.... nothing all that complex honestly, but still a challenge, because female anatomy.

I continued on with the lineart, trying to make her look confident, but also innocent to some degree, since she just.... she just doesn't yell "badass" at your face, when you see her, right?
So I ended up with her looking like this, me struggling a shitload with the arms and just leaving them for later ^-^"

And as we all know me, I just went ahead and filled in the first flats. Dang it was kinda difficult to get the colours right, since I couldn't colour-pick from my reference and my DS ran out of battery for me to look at that for reference. In the end I think I still did a pretty good job, even though I could've pushed the sword a bit more in retrospect.

I then went on to shade the hair, totally forgetting that this was just supposed to be a rough sketch.... yeah I put way too much detail in there... and then, when it came to the sword, I had to match the amount of details, which is why the sword looks so.... idk.... uh... overly detailed... which did indeed become my downfall later on in the drawing QwQ

After hair, sword and eyes were done, I went ahead to work on the metal and leather, because we all know how much I love metal and leather..... ah, so much fun.
Goal was, to keep it simple and fast, whilst also making you lot think, that I put quite an amount of effort in there. And I think I did a pretty good job, thanks to a technique, that I wanna explore in a colouring tutorial sometime later ^-^"

So when all the "fun" parts were done, I had to go through the pain of shading the fabrics. And it was indeed done a lot faster than I initially thought :d

Okay... at about this stage of the drawing, I dumped the project aside, because I just couldn't for the life of me do those hands. Not because I am unable to draw them, but simply because I really didn't want to do them, you know? It's like artblock, but just with one element in the drawing...

Either way, I managed to pull myself together yesterday and finish the drawing up, since Sunny reminded us of the deadline and I found it stupid that I may not be able to finish the drawing because of that one element.

So yeah... after finishing up the lineart, shading the skin and adding a background, as well as some nice overlays, lighting effects and a small border around the character, I can present you the final drawing!

So that's that.... I hope you like it as much as I do, and are able to ignore the alien hand/arm... I just wanted to get it done at that point and took the hands as they came along.

Smol question on the side... I was thinking about starting my own artcontest, since... idk... I think it looks fun and always was curious to do that (I mean..... I was indeed part of the artclub-contest organisation, but that kinda died and I just... argh working in teams just ain't my thing QwQ).... so yeah just a smol question on the side, if you would be interested in something like that >w<

Either way, I better go do something productive... really should work towards saving my german mark or getting english, french, maths and bio homework done..... ooorrr I could chill on the window sill and draw one of the character from the book we're reading in english class..... hmmm....

I mean, we all know what I'm gonna do, but in all the cases I'll leave you... hopefully you'll stick around until I can upload some longer and more interesting chapters again ^-^
