sooooooo......

ya boy finally got around to actually draw the picture to one of redsys dtiys, before forgetting the whole thing and only remembering, when the evaluations are uploaded :)

either way, let's just hop right into this, before i forget to write and upload the chapter, with my non-existent memory!!

so, for the 11th challenge in Redsys second dtiys-challenge book, we got this picture, which reds drew in october 2019:

not gonna lie, it's insane to see how far her art has come.... and how you can still see some aspects of her new art in her older pieces :0

anyways, the design is amazing (as always.... i mean... it's reds, what did we expect), and i instantly felt inspired.... and because of that i tried my darndest to definitely remember to participate this time around!

now, on a side note, i recently have been working through my WIP folder, finishing some projects, filing some projects that were like "kinda done, but i still wanna add something later" to the finished projects, and.... do this really weird habit of mine of "recycling" WIP files?
so instead of putting unfinished works that i don't wanna finish anymore somewhere seperate, i export the current progress, delete the stuff in the file and then use the canvas for another drawing.....

yee....... no clue what the logic behind that is, but i somehow just do it, and because this drawing was made on such a file, here's the old WIP, that was sacrificed for this new picture:

may he rest in peace, until i will start this picture again sometime soon, but with a different starting point.

BACK TO THE ACTUAL POINT OF THE CHAPTER.

after i saw the design, i didn't really need all that much prep-work. the idea was there, all i had to do was to try my best at the execution.....
essentially i went with a genderbend (woah, what a surprise), and since the original design already was pretty unisex, i just went ahead and changed a few thingy up, to make it all appear more masc.

the colours remained mostly the same, since i really really really loved the combo of those in the original. the hair i just put into a single ponytail, since the pigtails didn't quite match the vibe i was going for, which was also why i made it quite a bit shorter.

the shirt remained the same, since... well... those sleeveless turtlenecks are peak character design, no matter the context. the fishnet sleeves though... again, didn't quite match the vibe, so i turned those into cuffs?? that covered parts of the arm

when it came to the trousers, i made them longer and baggier, whilst the belt and extra cloth remained the same, other than a few value changed to enhance contrast.
as the trousers were longer now, i made the boots shorter, making them appear more like ankle-high sneakers?? dunno... they aren't as long as they were before though ^-^""

that was more or less all there was to the changes in regards of the outfit... as i said, really only minor things, since the original already was looking awesome.

the pose was a different story here... i instantly knew, that i wanted to go for a martial-art related pose, since the original already suggested that topic and direction.
I essentially just searched for that stuff on pinterest, until i found a reference for a pose, that i'd like... and whilst i did indeed find several good ones, ranging from jumpkicks and dramatic punches, to just epic stances, i settled on something, that was elegant, yet dynamic.

and since elegance, yet dynamic was kinda what i was going for in the whole piece, i went ahead with the rather difficult task of a kick-punch-thingy.... idk... i don't do martial arts, so sorry for the inaccuracies ^-^""

all in all... i had a shitton of fun on this one. from the pose to the colours, to figuring out how fists are supposed to look from different angles, this was a hella great experience, and reminded me just why i love redsys dtiys challenges so much.... desperately gotta join in more often or just steal some of her characters >:D

So yeah! Hope you guys like the result as much as I did, since man... it's simple yet has a certain charm to it ^-^

other than that, remember to take care of yourselves and show reds some love, since her art and design abilities are simply amazing!
