Well hello there! Took me quite some time to finish something up folks, since I keep getting a WIP pretty far, before starting a new one.... so now I have a Xiao, Maethdess, Charles, Sumi/Kiko and Silagwend only waiting to be shaded, since I always started a new project after the flats...
either way, that also means that I should be finished with those fairly quickly, meaning new chapters should come pretty frequently after this one.

And before I start with the actual drawings, I just wanted to throw in the fact, that I have my own little, artsy discord server now! If you're a writer, artist or just wanna meet some cool new people I'd find it super cool if you'd consider joining ^-^

Okay, back to the actual reason you guys are here: my drawings!

So I hope you guys all remember Esgaron, right? This dude here, that I obsessed over in february?

And I hope you guys remember how I rather late figured that he was just a Xiao ripoff, since I couldn't get him during his event, meaning my brain kinda needed a coping mechanism?

So to battle that, I finally went ahead and gave him a redesign! At least of his head. Still gotta work a bit on his clothing, but that has to wait for another day haha.
Since I was pretty darn happy with his facial structure, my main goal was to give him a haircut and change his cursed eye up a bit. Also remembered to give him his eyes of the ancient this time around >w<

Shading was a lot of fun. I tried to keep it simple, so we have only one layer of shading, one layer of highlights and then another layer for rimlighting and details.

Okay, so i did indeed break that rule for his cursed eye, since... it was just too much fun messing with it, ya know?

So yeah, that's the new Esgaron for ya... definetely want to play with his design a bit more, but I'm really happy with how he's developing as a character atm ^-^

This time around it's an entry for a draw this in your style challenge, hosted by drawing_Angel666, right here on wattpad! Here's the original piece she made:

Argh... so pretty.

Initially I had planned to actually draw them in my style... as a girl and all that. But when it actually came to drwing my version, i went back to my good, old genderbends....
So I sat down, scrolled through my pinterest references and found some nice inspirations, which I rapidly translated into whatever the heck this is supposed to be:

I drew the head, as per usual, and then figured out the rough anatomy below, since I found myself unable to just draw the clothing, based on that initial sketch of mine.

Really not a lot to say here haha

And then! Then we got to the clothing!

My first idea was, to have him wear a turtleneck sweater with buttons and then this jacket with frilly sleeves on top, together with a fancy set of trousers and that loose belt.
Plans changed though, and I scrapped the turtleneck and just gave him the jacket on it's own instead, also changing up the sleeves, since I just could make those work for the life of me.

I fought my way through the hands and arms, also questioning the fundamental existence and reasons for trousers on the way (like... if trousers wouldn't exist, then I wouldn't need to draw them. that's where that came from.... i don't wanna have everyone run around half naked, no worries).

Then, when the lineart was finished, I realised that I may need to fight with the similarities to the original picture. You can see where I'm coming from so far, yeah, but I had the feeling that I slowly estranged my version of this drawing from the original picture. But I just pushed those thoughs aside and instead went on to the colours, hoping that those might fix the issue >w<

Colour wise, I stuck with the original palette, trying to make everything more muted and grey-ish, rather than the bright pastels... idk... pastels just don't look good on my art xD

I then went on to shading the thing. Main goals were to get the hair and clothing very bright and white at parts, to be more similar to the original.
I also was so stupid and initially shaded all the beige/yellow/golden parts to be metallic, because I was getting tired and didn't pay attention to what I was actually doing xD

Anyways, shadint was all great and fun. I wanted to keep the background rather simple, which is why I added my beloved jade texture onto that blue square. I also wanted to pull the more reddish tones back into the drawing (since the overlays ruined the red tinted skin quite a bit QwQ), through some copper elements, but for some odd reason the gold texture fit better.

I then went ahead, exportet everything, uploaded it to instagram, twitter and whatnot, only to come back the next day and fix some of my mistakes..... yeah..... i should do that more often...

So I went ahead and saw how that rigth arm is WAYYY too short.... hoLY GUACAMOLY THE POOR BOY. So I fixed that. And whilst I was at it, I also added a bit more blush and made the skin a bit redder. I also added some red effects to the gold in the background, to make it look a bit more orange and copper-ish.

So that was that!

In the end I am actually pretty happy with the result. I really didn't like it at first, but after editing around a bit, I have grown more fond of it than I initially thought I would haha

I hope you guys like both of the drawings.. ngl i'm pretty hyped to work a bit more on Esgaron and some other members of the rebellion, so look out for that! I'm also thinking a lot about the stories in Defiance again, so maybe I'll start to continue writing there some more.
