A/N

I know this prompt had a ton of potential, but I got writer's block for this one. I'm excited to see what others have done with it!

Btw, it's already the third day in my timezone, sorry if this is early but I'll probably be too busy to post tomorrow.

He couldn't help but smile every time texts like those appeared on his screen.

It was only after they got together that they started occasionally appearing, but it was after their reunion that they started appearing more and more often.

She was never good with words, they both knew that. At first, her messages were a reminder of her love; that no, she hadn't lost interest, she hadn't changed her mind.

After their blissful reunion, when they started popping up multiple times a day, they were reminders that she was there; that she needed him just as much as he needed her, that they would never let go of each other again.

In both cases, they made his day.

She always told him what she wanted through them. She asked for cuddles, chats, even help with various chores and errands...

She would even say 'I love you', but that wasn't the weird part. It was the frequency of her saying it, not the word itself. Ever since they got back together, she would always say it in private, and he would feel fulfilled every time. But through texts, it was more frequent than he could ever ask for. Every good morning or goodnight text, as well as some others throughout the day, they all included the word.

He theorised that it was because of her safe space. In their little text conversation, she didn't have to speak, no one could hear them. It was just she and him, their little safe space where they only had each other's company.

Through them, he felt loved. She didn't have to say anything for it to matter. As long as it came from her, he knew she was telling the truth.

He would usually respond with compliments or hearts. His words were way less than hers, but still, she knew he had the courage to say them out loud the next time they met in person.

When they did, it was as if the texts had never been sent in the first place. It was a silent acknowledgement of sorts. Whether it be taking her to the movies or kissing her senseless, he never once mentioned that it was due to her own request. Not that he didn't do things for her on his own, of course, but her texts were always sure to give him new ideas.

She liked hinting at stuff ever since they got together. Half because of her shyness, half because of insecurity. She didn't want to feel vulnerable or needy, he knew that.

Well, to be truthful, it took a breakup and a reunion to learn that. But once he did, everything changed for the better.

There was a pattern to her hints. Whether it be lightly tapping his thigh under the dinner table, nudging his shoulder when they crossed paths while walking...

She didn't enjoy playing mind games with him. But they both knew that, no matter how much she tried, he could always read her like an open book.

And, quite frankly, that was the thing that made her feel loved.

He woke up with her in his arms when suddenly, his phone let out a chime.

With droopy eyes and a yawn, he reached out to grab it, never once letting her go as he took hold of it.

Squinting at the notification, he smiled. He looked down at her.

She didn't resist giggling into his chest like a kid who had just been caught in the act. She tried to roll away, but he caught her in his arms, his grip so tight she had no chance of escaping.

Even after so many sleepless nights, after everything that had happened... Having her in his arms was therapeutic.

"We're literally sleeping right next to each other," he told her. "You could've just told me good morning."

"I know," she said, snuggling closer to his chest once she calmed down. "But I get to tell you how much I love you through text."

He smirked. "You just told me."

She didn't have her usual blush when caught. It was true, she had told him the phrase in private a few times in the past, she wasn't embarrassed of telling him again.

So, she looked into his eyes, giving him the most innocent, tired smile, one that made his heart melt instantly.

"Then I get to tell you twice."

He guided her head to his chest, signalling to her that he would never let her go again. They were one, they knew that. "I love you too," he said, then pressed his lips on her bangs.

Even just one text was enough to make their days. It was an odd way of love, but they didn't care.

Every day, she would yearn for his voice, and every day, he would yearn for her message.
