It all started with a book. One simple book. A book about mythical creatures. The book belonged to Jessica, my classmate. As I was walking home I found the book on the floor. She must have dropped it going to the library.

I decided to follow her and see what she was up to. I had to be quiet so she wouldn't see me. I saw her turn in an alley. She took the stairs and entered the Bretton Public Library. I found it suspicious how she looked both ways and went into an employees only room. She closed the door behind her and I peeked through the window.

I pressed my ear to a wall and listened. All I could hear was Jessica talking to the librarian, Fletcher.
"Do you think he'll let me bring the book?" She asked him.
" I don't know, let me see it." He reached out his hand for the book. She looked in her bag and then at Fletcher.
"Oh no. It's not here. I think I might've dropped it." She panicked.
"Of course you lost it. No surprise. What was it called?" He questioned.
"Mythical Students" She answered.
"Darn it, I know that book. Be more careful." Fletcher said shaking his head.
"I think I left my notes in there too." Jessica blushed.
"Is that so? If you were any younger I would understand,but a sixth grader? Really? Then again if you were any younger Flight might've not let you enroll. Besides you are from another dimension." Fletcher answered.
"Wow. You don't have to say it like that. I'm lucky Flight let me enroll. He must have a reason, I mean he never let's anyone like me enroll." Jessica said picking her backpack up.
"You think you're special don't you? I bet Flight treats any other darn person like you the same old way." Fletcher defensively said.
"This is because you got kicked out isn't it." She replied.
"Look,princess, I've told you more than enough before, don't you dare speak of that day!" He shoved her on the wall and held her there.
"Yee, what are you doing Fletcher? Aww c'mon don't take it personally Fletcher, it was just a joke. You know I wouldn't mean it like that." Jessica reasoned.

"Just a joke? Just a joke? JUST A JOKE! Do you think it was funny when I actually got kicked out? Was I laughing when Flight told me to get out of his sight? Was anyone laughing when I got rejected as master?! No! So why would it be funny now?!" He yelled and gripped on to her neck.
"Fletcher! Stop! You're choking me! Please put me down! Why are you overreacting to this?! Fletcher! I can't breathe." She yelped. He dropped her onto the floor.
"Would you like to say that joke once more?" He sneered.
Why the heck is he acting like this? Did that joke make him do that? This isn't like him.

Woah, I said to myself.   He's crazy. Did he seriously do that?

Fletcher turned around and faced the wall. His eyes saddened and somehow he knew he wasn't himself.

"Go. Now. Before anyone notices your absence. Be back at 10:00 pm. I'll be waiting." He said and pulled out a red book. He put it on a scale and a door opened.
"See you later, Jessica." Fletcher couldn't look at her. He had done something he never believed he would do, that is, if he were himself..
