SAM's POV

I woke up the next morning actually ready for school. That's a surprise. I usually can't stand waking up early and getting up for school, but today seems different. I don't know why but something is gonna happen today. I can feel it in my bones. I can feel the anticipation. I can feeeeeeee--

"Samantha! Get up!"

My mom's voice is enough to wake anybody up. Ugh, I hate it. I just want her to put a sock in it.

"Samantha, I know you hear me calling you!" She was shouting from the hallway outside my room.

"AIGHT, I HEAR YOU! GOSH!"

I reluctantly sit up and swing my feet off of the bed. I guess my good day ain't gonna happen. I went through my daily routine and slumped down the stairs into the kitchen where my mom made some oatmeal. She was stirring it with her back towards me. I stared at her giving her the evil glare as I walked past, picking up my backpack sitting on the floor by the kitchen table. I flung it over my back and walked back toward the key rack.

"Morning," my mom sang.

"Morning," I said in a sarcastic tone. I grabbed my car keys and started walking toward the front door.

"Where are you going?" My mom turned around with her hands on her hips.

"Um, this place called school, where stupid kids like me go to get our edumacation," I flashed her a fake smile and about-faced, heading toward my destination again.

I didn't have to turn around to tell that my mom rolled her eyes and flared her nostrils -- like she always does when I talk back to her. I don't care though.

"Not before you eat some breakfast. I made oatmeal and cut up some fruit so you can eat healthier," my mom said.

"I'll just eat at school," I said. I was already halfway out the door when I said this. I heard my mom calling my name again but I quickly walked to my car and headed toward Wesley High.

~In the school hallway~

I was finishing up my breakfast burrito that I got from the cafeteria and threw the wrapper in the garbage can. I walked confidently down the hallway, swerving in and out of groups of people talking in the halls. I'm glad I get my butt here early; it takes like ten minutes just to get through the crowded hallways at school. Do people know the meaning of get out the way?!

I came around a corner and ran into my bestie Becca.

"Oh, hey Sam!"

"Hey, Becca. Sup?"

"Nothing... except that the whole school is talking about you and Chris," she said.

"What are you talking about?"

Becca lowers her voice and steps closer to me.

"Apparently, Chris said that y'all were talking yesterday and you completely dissed him. He said he asked you to the dance and you spit in his face. Then, he said that you said that you'd only go with him if he slept with you and he said no--"

"What?! Becca where did you hear this stuff?"

"Around... I told you everyone's talking about it. They think you are a verrryy bad word," Becca said as she checked her phone.

"You can't be serious. You know he's lying, right? I mean why would I even want to sleep with him."

A group of tall athletic guys walked past us. They were all looking at me and winking. Um, gross.

"Girl, we all do," my friend said, checking out the guys that just walked past.

"Okay, you don't believe this do you?"

"Of course not!"

"Okay, then why are you acting like something happened? It's a rumor, and a very stupid one I may add."

"This is high school. I have to be hip on the 411 whether it's true or not..."

"Whatever, It's not even worth it. Later, Becca."

Forget rumors. I'm going to my Spanish class before I'm late. Who would even spread a rumor as stupid as that? As I approached my first block class, I pulled open the door and walked in the room. I stopped awkwardly because everyone in the room stared at me. I raised my eyebrow and walked normally to my seat near the back. I sat down and took out my necessary books and notebook. Some people were still staring. Creeps.

I noticed Diggy wasn't in class yet and neither was Julie. My Spanish partner for the day, Jake, made his way to his seat beside me. He was chatting with some other basketball guys.

"Hey, Sam," he said, giving me a smile.

"Hey, Jake," I said without acknowledging him.

"You ready for the Spanish presentation today?"

"I guess. You ready?"

"My middle name is 'Spanish'... of course I'm ready," he said, while taking out the assignment for today.

I look at him and smirk. "Mmkay. You better not mess up or I'll sooo beat your butt in a game of scrimmage."

"And you better not mess up or I'll buy you that pink ballerina outfit you've always wanted for Halloween. And by the way, you'd never beat me in scrimmage."

I made a face at him and he laughed.

The bell rang signaling the beginning of a long day. Diggy and the annoying new girl - I'm just going to call her "THAT THING" - still haven't arrived yet. Our teacher took roll call and we started our short presentations. Not too long after the first group went, Diggy and that thing strolled in together looking happy. The teacher asked them why they were late and they said they had to talk to the coach about something. She excused them and told them not to be late again.

As they made their way to their seats, that thing looked at me and smirked. She needs to sit her little tail down!

"Mrs. Goode, Mr. Ruiz. Your turn."

Me and Jake walked to the front of the class and started our introductions speaking only in Spanish.

"Hola, me llamo Jake y esta es Sam (Hello I'm Jake and this is Sam)," Jake introduced us and he began telling the class five facts about me and I'd do the same vice versa. We finished perfectly and sat down. Diggy and Miss Thang were up next.

This girl had the audacity to rub on my boy's arm while she was talking. Diggy was up there smiling entirely too much. They better calm down their googly eyes. I'm still annoyed that he left us at the restaurant last night to hang out with her. He barely even knows her. And I swear she's up to something... I'll find out what it is soon enough.

"Okay, class, great presentations today. I could give all of you an A!" They classroom was filled with claps and big smiles everywhere. Except for me. I couldn't care less.

"Now, we are going to learn about relationships, as in how to say that someone is related to you. For example, stepmother, stepfather, siblings, boyfriend, girlfriend, etc. Take out your textbooks and find the new vocabulary."

We did as we were told. Miss Googly Eyes raised her hand.

"Yes, Julie?"

"How do you say that someone asked someone out, but they refused them and spit in their face?" The class busted out with laughter and a few people looked back at me. This girl did NOT.

"Wow, very descriptive, Julie. Well, to say "to invite someone out" would be invitar a alguien a salir. To refuse to do something, you'd use the verb negarse."

Julie snorted and peeped at me. "Okay. How do you say that someone slept with someone?"

The class laughed once again and turned their big heads back at me. She is really childish for this; I swear I hate females at this school. Jake was probably the only one not amused. He kind of looked sorry for me, IDK why. Dig looked at me kind of confused. He must not have heard the rumor. A few seconds later the teacher finally tamed the class and we were back on focus. I hope all my classes don't go like this.
