Peter returned to the kitchen shortly followed by Dick in his Robin costume. He said something about the science pun annoying him too much. "Peter said something about discussing our options," he said, leaning against the door frame with a calm expression. Tony and Bruce looked at one another, gulping a little and secretly hoping that the kid wouldn't faint again. "We've requested any insight we can get from Wakanda," Tony started then realised that Robin had no idea what the hell that place was. "Wakanda is an advanced civilisation that we're allies with. Anyway, they think that they could open up a portal but it would take years of trial and error to do," he finished. Robin frowned.

"I'm not about to wait years to see my family again. Any other options?"

"An alien ship has been spotted near Earth and we think it's planning to land downtown. The technology on board may be advanced enough to open a portal to your dimension if we're lucky. Of course, we'd have to get on the ship and take what we can, that has its own dangers." Bruce explained. He brought a smile to Dick's face with that suggestion, making him stop leaning against the doorframe. "That'll work. I can get on the ship, hack into their main computer and take what we need," he thought aloud. "I've done something similar, although it was in a simulation but it was close enough to the real thing. Plus there should be a lot less death this time," he continued, rubbing his chin in thought. He shot them a smile when he felt the tension rise in the room. Failsafe was a whole other story he didn't want to get in to. "When are they due to land?"  A loud alarm gave him his answer and Tony pulled up a video leak of the ship releasing hoards of nasty looking aliens. "Now. Are you sure you're ready to fight?" Tony asked. Robin laughed at him. "They don't call me Boy Wonder for nothing."

Robin admittedly was a little too hungry for action when they arrived where the aliens landed. He couldn't help the smile that spread across his face when he stepped into the battlefield; feeling the wind from the ship hit him and make his cape flow. He had one goal. Get on the ship and get what he needed. He watched the team get to action and began to devise a plan to get onto the ship. They agreed that Robin would get on the ship, steal what he needed then they'd use what he got in the lab to get him home. Robin noticed a large opening in the ship half way through a flip to get away from aliens. At first, he had no idea how to get up there since his grappling hook was nowhere long enough to get him in there. Then he heard a roar and looked to where Bruce once stood. There was now a hulking giant in his place. "That'll do," he muttered. "What's the plan Rob?" Spider-Man asked.

"Depending on the big guy, it's gonna involve me taking an impromptu flight." He could feel the hero's confusion through the comm unit. "Hey, Green Giant! You got a good aim?" he shouted.

"Me Hulk not Green Giant!" Hulk yelled in aggravation.

"Alright Hulk, you got a good aim?" He nodded.

"What throw?"

"Me. I need to get up to that opening there. Preferably in one piece," Robin answered, pointing up to the gap in the ship. Hulk nodded, smiling at the prospect of hurtling this child so far into the sky. "You sure you want to go on your own?" Iron Man asked.

"I've done a lot more dangerous things on my own. Just keep them on the ground so I don't get abducted." Robin replied. He was then thrown through the air, barely reaching the entrance. "Good aim my arse," he muttered, clambering up into the ship. "I've got a better aim when I'm blindfolded."

Saving the rest of his grumbles for later, Robin walked around the ship trying to find a room that looked like it could offer some help. He stumbled across one room that fit the criteria and walked in. The room was full of wires and circuit boards of various colours. Robin crouched down to put in a USB to the super computer and brought up a holographic keyboard to hack his way through the files. He didn't bother decoding yet as it would use up valuable time. "How long will it take you?" Spider-Man asked nervously.

"Five minutes at the most. How long have I got?" Robin answered.

"They're a few minutes from retreating so you better work quick," Black Widow answered. He hummed in response and kept his focus on the task at hand. This was what stood between going home within hours and going home in years. Once he got the information, he could get the hell out of there and go home. As Robin detached his USB after getting the information, a large screeching rang through the speakers. It forced him to cover his ears in pain. "What's going on down there?" he yelled, starting to run out the ship. Whatever the screeching was, it didn't mean something good. "The aliens are retreating. You need to get out of there now," Captain America ordered. "Way ahead of you."

Robin ran to where he entered. "Rob you're gonna have to free fall. Thor will catch you," the Captain told him. "Are you kidding me? That's like a thousand-foot drop!" He barely knew these people, let alone trust them. "There's no other way. He'll catch you I promise," Spider-Man chimed in. "Oh well now you've promised," Robin retorted angrily. He took a deep breath and made it to he had a run up. "This is crazy, this is crazy," he repeated under his breath. Yet, as though betraying him, his feet forced him to run off the edge and into the air. That feeling of his guts being jostled inside his body hit him like a ton of bricks. "Now would be a great time to catch me Thor!" he shouted, seeing the ground quickly approaching him. As if on cue, the God caught him and brought him safely to the ground. "Could you have left it any later? Jesus Christ you guys are gonna kill me before I get back," Robin complained, wheezing from the adrenaline. He heard them laugh. Somehow he didn't see the funny side when his lungs burned.

"Alright Rob, you ready to go home?" Tony asked, finishing off what was left of the device. It hadn't taken them long to decrypt the alien technology, the work only taking half an hour. Robin nodded and grinned from ear to ear. He walked over to the device as a portal opened. "You know, you could come back if you wanted to one day," Peter mumbled. Robin turned to look at him. Had he grown on him that much over the space of a few hours? "Can't get enough of me Spider-Boy?" he asked with a laugh. Peter rolled his eyes playfully, handing over a machine that was similar to Tony's. He happily accepted the gift. Maybe he could bring Wally over to meet Peter. They'd get on like a house of fire. "Don't come running back though. You wreak havoc wherever you go," Tony added, smirking.

"I get that a lot," Robin responded, pocketing the technology. He turned his attention back to the riff in space, staring at it hopefully. His heart was pounding in his chest so hard that he thought the others might be able to hear it. Pinks and blues swirled together for a brief minute until a picture finally became clear. It was the training room of the Mountain. The first person he saw was his mentor which made him tear up in excitement. "Is that Batman?" Peter asked, astounded. "The one and only," Robin answered.

"Robin, you need a run up to break the tension of the portal then you should go through," Bruce instructed. Robin took a few steps back, excitement causing him to a tremble a little. "See you around," he said before running at full speed through the portal.

Batman was pacing around. Ten days he'd been without his son and he was close to falling apart. Wally was far gone on that road. He kept blaming himself for not using his super speed to save Artemis and Robin. The speedster hardly left his room. Even he felt bad for the brokenhearted ginger. "He can't have just vanished into thin air," he insisted as Kaldur and Dinah gave theories on where his son could've ended up. "That's certainly what this looks like," Dinah countered. He was deep in thought when he saw a bright light appear in the corner of his eye. Turning to look at it, the light morphed into shape as it came bounding towards him. The white light then changed to the bright red and yellow that were key features of Robin's suit. "Is that?" Kaldur started. "Son?" Batman asked in disbelief. Finally, Robin came into view. His face held a bright grin that Batman simply adored every time he saw it. "Dad!" Robin confirmed, jumping into Batman's subconsciously opened arms. He instantly snatched up into a hug and held tightly. Now Batman wasn't supposed to cry but they certainly weren't about to call him out on shedding a tear or few once he was united with his protégé. "You're going to kill me one of these days, you know that?"

"I don't doubt that," Robin giggled. He instinctively snuggled his head into his father's chest, craving the comfort in it. His ears practically blocked out all the nose when he found himself safe in Batman's arms.

"Kal this better be a development on Robi- OH MY GOD ROBIN YOU'RE BACK!" Wally screeched, racing to Robin's side. Reluctantly, Batman pulled away so the couple could be together again. He could hog Robin at home. "You'll burst my eardrums yelling like that," Robin quipped. He was immediately shut up by Wally planting a kiss on his lips. "Shut your beautiful face," Wally responded through tears, holding Robin closely. "I thought I got you killed."

"I'm Robin, I'm practically immortal at this point," he assured his lover.

My thumbs are gonna fall off. Hope you enjoyed!
