I'm breaking up the two similar stories with this one and erm I think I wrecked myself thinking of the idea. It's sorta based off of Angelica and Eliza's relationship. Just don't be mad with me.

Today had been difficult but it was coming to an end. Today was Artemis and Wally's wedding. Dick was best man and boy did he try hard to be the best. The bachelor party he threw was spectacular and he helped wherever he could. But this day was eating Dick from the inside out. Years ago he had been planning on telling Wally about his crush on him only to be intercepted by Artemis admitting she loved Wally to M'gann. He was heartbroken but he told himself that Artemis needed Wally more. He could always have him as a friend. A best friend.

They'd got past the ceremony and he survived through his best man's speech. Now he had the night party. He'd lost momentum through the day so he just chose a spot against the wall and watched everyone dance. Wally was happy. His team was happy. Hell everyone was happy. Except Dick. He'd just watched the love of his life get married to someone other than him. Dick then felt a hand on his arm. It was Artemis. She had a solemn look on her face and Dick immediately felt apprehensive. "Arty?"

"I need to talk to you in private," she said. He nodded and followed her into a deserted hallway. "What's this about?" he asked.

"I know it's long overdue but I wanted to say thank you," Artemis answered.

"Oh don't worry about it being best man was great," he assured her. She smiled sadly.

"Dick that's not what I meant. I know you love Wally and I have to say thank you for not acting on your feelings," she explained. Dick's eyes widened and he felt a little sick.

"I-I don't know what you're talking about," he lied.

Artemis sighed and put a hand on his face. "You've loved Wally since our team formed, maybe longer. I've known it and so has the team except Wally. Everyone knows except him. He's always been naive," she said. Dick smiled but she could tell he wasn't happy.

"You need him more than I do. You'll be happy as his bride, happier than me. Besides, I can't have a relationship with him when I'm part of the Batfamily," he replied. He felt like bursting into tears. She knew he loved him and she still asked him out without even speaking to him about the situation. "You're like a little brother Dick and I want you to be happy too. I appreciate what you did and I swear I'll make it up to," Artemis promised, crying a little. He'd given up something she could never do. "You can make it up by staying true to Wally. That's all I can ask for. And maybe set me up with a nice guy if you meet one," he joked, attempting to cheer her up.

"Of course," Artemis replied with a laugh.

"You get back to the party I'll be right behind you once I splash some water on my face," he said. She nodded and watched him head to the bathrooms. "I'm sorry Dickie."

Dick practically ran into a stall and broke down. He'd made it through the whole day without crying but he couldn't do it anymore. Why did he have to do that? Why couldn't he just do what his heart said to do? Then again, it was his heart that told him Artemis would be happier with Wally. At least he could see Wally all the time still. He'd married a friend. There was a knock on the door of the cubicle that made him choke down his sobs. "Dick, it's Kaldur," a friendly voice told him. "What's up Kal?" Dick answered, swallowing his cries.

"I know how it feels to lose a love to a friend," Kaldur stated. Dick sighed and opened the door. "It's awful at first but you learn to be happy. You have so much going for you," he insisted.

"But I don't! I have to date a hero because that's the only way they'll understand me bouncing off from place to place. I'm sick of one night stands with no follow through!" Dick exclaimed. "Wally was my chance at that and I let Artemis take him," he added. He looked down and wiped his eyes. "You'll find someone. It takes time my friend," Kaldur insisted. Dick had already made up his mind however. "I'm done looking Kaldur." His phone buzzed, signaling he was wanted out as Nightwing. He pulled it out and saw it was Batman. "I've got a job to do. Tell Artemis and Wally I had to shoot off." he said, walking out the stall.

"This conversation isn't over Richard," Kaldur told him.

"No Kaldur. It is over. Have a nice time tonight." Kaldur watched him leave, tempted to run after him.

"You can come out now M'gann. He isn't here," he announced. M'gann shyly opened the door with a worried expression on her face. She was the first one to know about his crush. She had the chance to tell Artemis that Dick liked him. She didn't. "He's never going to be satisfied without Wally is he?" she asked sadly. Kaldur looked at the door.

"I'm afraid not."
