Bruce had been in a meeting for hours now and kept getting calls, each time declining them then apologizing for how unprofessional it was. When he finally got out, the caller called again. He grumbled and picked up. "What do you want?" he spat.

"Bruce I just wanted to talk," Dick replied.

"Well you've been ruining my whole meeting and you made me look completely unprofessional. I may just have to revoke your phone privileges," he scolded. There was a strong suck in of breath then Dick replied, "Sorry for bothering you." He hung up. Bruce took the phone away from his ear and sighed. He had to stay in work but if there was something wrong with Dick, somebody had to do something. Alfred would be out shopping by this time so Dick would be alone and presumably upset. He thought for a moment then pulled out his phone again. "Diana, I need you to go over to the manor," he said in a grave voice.

"Did something happen? Should I go as a hero?" she asked frantically.

"No, just go and check on Dick. There's something wrong but I don't know what." She hummed in response and hung up.

Diana arrived at the manor and noticed two smashed windows. Maybe she should've come as Wonder Woman. Anxiously, she knocked on the door. There was no reply. "Dick? It's Diana! Please open the door!" She was desperate and you could clearly hear it in her voice. Dick had never been kidnapped before, what if he was gone? Sniffling could be heard and the door opened. Dick looked up at her with teary eyes, clutching a blanket around his shoulders. "Are they gone?" he asked, his eyes darting around.

"There's no one here, what happened?" she asked. He pointed to a pile of rocks with white lettering on. Her heart broke when she saw what was on them. Freak and others she hoped to Athena Dick didn't know. "I don't know what I did wrong," he whispered, breaking down into sobs. Diana froze. She didn't have the slightest clue how to soothe someone crying let alone a child. "Just give me one second. Go sit on the coach and I'll be right with you," she said. Dick nodded and sat on the couch, crying. She moved to the next room and hurriedly called Bruce. "He's crying what do I do?" she asked. If she could see Bruce's face, she would know he was very unamused. "Comfort him. Give him a hug. Rock him back and forth like a baby. For the love of God don't rock him as fast as last time."

Random Flashback because I can bitch

"Just rock him back and forth," Bruce said, watching Diana attempt to comfort Dick after a nightmare. "Okay."

"NOT THAT FAST JESUS CHRIST DIANA."

End of pointless flashback

"Okay, I can do that." she replied, trying to hype herself up.

"I can do this," she repeated silently. Diana walked back to the couch and picked up Dick who jumped at her sudden touch. "Hey it's alright. I've got you," she told him. He hugged her tightly and moved closer. "Now when did they start throwing rocks?" May as well get some information whilst he's calmed down. "An hour ago," he replied.

"Why didn't you call Bruce?"

"That's the thing Mama Diana I did call Bruce! He didn't answer for so long so I got worried and kept calling. Then when he finally did pick up he shouted at me for bothering him and I hung up. I really am just a bother," he cried. "I wanted him to tell me I'm not but I am! He probably hates me." Diana shushed him gently and hugged him back.

"He doesn't hate you, I can assure you of that. Once I get my hands on that man you will know that." Dick raised an inquisitive eyebrow.

"What are you gonna do?"

"Never you mind. Let's get you to bed, it's late." He nodded and she stood up, placing the young boy on her hip. "Can you tell me about a mission like Bruce does?" he asked with a hopeful glint in his eyes. "Sure, I have a good one in mind." After tucking in Dick, Diana sat beside him and retold her story. It was a mission where they had all lost their memory of one another so she used her lasso of truth on Superman and Batman. Superman said his real name whilst Batman just said he was Batman. Dick chuckled and fell asleep soon after. Now she had to deal with Bruce.

Diana walked downstairs, cracking her knuckles and trying to control her anger. At this moment, Bruce walked in. "I saw the smashed windows, what happened?" he asked. He noticed the dark look she had but decided not to touch on it. She pointed to the rocks silently and watched his face turn slightly pale. "He called you. He called you and you made him feel like a bother. He was looking for you to make him feel better and you failed him!" Bruce turned to her, a guilty look blatant on his face. "I didn't know. If I knew I would've come home."

"But you knew there was something wrong and sent me! The League can't look after this child Bruce, he is your son!" she shouted.

"I know Diana! I'm trying my best!"

"You need to try harder because there is an innocent child who must be protected upstairs that you chose to look after!"

"I know that! I know what I have to do!" he shouted back.

"Why are you two shouting?" a tired voice asked. They turned and saw Dick rubbing his eyes in fatigue. "No reason, our conversation just got a bit loud. I have to go." Diana replied. Bruce needed to take responsibility and having her there would just hinder things. He waved her goodbye then looked to Bruce nervously. "Did you see the rocks?" Bruce nodded. "Pikey is a new one."

"Come here Dickie," Bruce said, opening his arms. Dick ran to him and hugged him tightly. "I'm going to protect you Dickie. I promise," he told him. "I always will."
