Is it a demon? A villain? Possibly both?

imustbealoner wanted something about Robin's cackle and I thought this was the best time to pull out a crack fic

It was a normal day in the Mountain and everyone was chilling in the living room, doing their own thing. Everything was fine and dandy until they heard a laugh. It was like no laugh they'd ever heard before. Well, that wasn't completely true. Wally knew the laugh well. That made it even funnier when the whole team suddenly went on edge upon hearing the laugh. Connor even paused the static to see if they could hear it again. "What was that?" he asked.

"Sounded like a demon," M'gann muttered. It was almost a joke had they not known magic was a thing and it would be just their luck to have a demon sneak into the Mountain to fight them. "Or like a b tech Joker," Artemis added. They stayed quiet as their ears strained to hear the sound once more. There was silence and Wally did everything in his power not to laugh in their faces. He had to see how far this went. Eventually, there was another cackle. "We should figure out who that is right?" Connor asked. The last time they heard an unusual noise in the Mountain they all ended up nearly dying.

"It's probably the building settling," Kaldur replied dismissively. He got a deadpan look from his team.

"What building cackles?" Wally asked. If he was going to let this go on, he needed to blend in and act confused. Otherwise, his teammates might suspect he knew something they didn't. "We should go look around just to make sure," he added.

"You're making mountains out of molehills," their leader stated though it was clear his excuse for the sounds wasn't genuine. "If not to figure out the noise's source but to check nothing's there. None of us want a repeat of the Reds." He got up, abandoning the book he was reading and walked out of the room with his friends following suit.

Another cackle led them down the hall. Another sent them to the garage. Then the Zetatubes. Then the bedrooms. They searched every single room to no avail. "I swear down this thing is moving," Artemis complained, folding her arms across her chest with a pout. It was like a darn rat. "How can something move that fast?" M'gann fretted. The last thing they needed was a near-death experience. Meanwhile, Wally had to cough to cover up the giggles and snickers that kept escaping. They were all so confused and almost scared but he didn't have the heart to tell them what it was. Especially not after searching nearly everywhere in the Mountain for the last two hours. "Are you getting sick?" Connor asked, stepping a little further away from the ginger. Fearing that saying anything would lead to laughter he just coughed more and nodded. "If it were a person then surely they would've attacked us by now," Kaldur stated.

"Maybe they're playing the long game. Tire us out so then they can attack us when we're down," Artemis suggested.

"That's a little much, isn't it? And if that were the case then why would they alert us with a demonic laugh?" M'gann pointed out. The blonde huffed.

"Don't poke holes in my logic!" That's when they heard the cackle right behind them.

They twirled around in fright and that set Wally off. He doubled over laughing to the point of tears as they realized who the culprit was. It was Robin. He too was laughing hard at the team's reaction. "What the hell you little troll!" Artemis screeched.

"What? I didn't do anything!" Robin defended.

"You've been doing that creepy ass laugh all day! How the hell do you move so fast you gremlin?" she argued.

"I was in the vents fixing the air conditioning that you have been complaining about for the last week! Excuse me for listening to a funny podcast while I do it!"

"I'm gonna die, deadass!" Wally scream-laughed.

"Are you possessed or something?" M'gann asked, genuinely concerned about their youngest member.

"Nah, you can't possess a demon."

"WHAT-"
