How had it all come to this?

That's what Little Kong was thinking right now. All around him water was rising. And it was rising fast as the storm overhead grew stronger. No one wanted to say it but this was the end. This was the end of Skull Island, for Skull Island was sinking into the ocean.

Shaking his wet white fur, Little Kong looked down at his newfound friend. A human. No, it was not one of the humans native to Skull Island. This one, along with its companions smelled like they had come from far away. The young Kaiju cat had saved them a day earlier from some of the island's residents. Then he had led them to the treasure hidden on Skull Island.

It was then the earthquake and hurricane struck.

Thankfully, three out of the five humans had managed to board a wooden watercraft vessel. The fourth member of the party was a total loss, he got eaten. But that left just Little Kong and his newfound human friend. Time was running out for the both of them. The water was rising even faster now. And the earthquake was still happening.

All of the sudden, the ground underneath Little Kong's hind foot broke open. His foot fell in and got stuck. Yelping, the Kaiju cat tried to pull it out. His human friend did his best to help. But both of their efforts were in vain. Little Kong was stuck. And yet the island continued sinking. The chances of survival were slim.

Looking down at his human friend, Little Kong knew he couldn't let him die. This small creature had saved him from a pit of quicksand and treated his injured paw. Though the Kaiju cat had already saved the human several times and clearly repaid his debt, he was willing to save his friend again and again, as many times as he needed to. With that, the Ruler of Skull Island made his decision.

Grabbing the human with his bandaged paw, Little Kong raised up on his hind legs and stretched his arm out as high as he could. The human started making sounds of despair. The Kaiju cat knew his newfound friend was worried about him. As the water began rising up to his neck, he rumbled, "Everything will be okay my friend."

Then the water rose above his head just as Little Kong saw the human's friend coming. He closed his eyes, knowing his pal would at least survive...
