Goldenwings strode into the study cavern, his bones creaking as he limped forward. What he said next caught all of them off guard.

"X is coming tomorrow."

They all stared at him, shocked. "T-tomorrow?" Goji stuttered.

X was a strange monster everyone believed to be a hyper-evolved Ghidorat. He was extremely smart, agile, and could levitate. Along with that, he was supposedly able to read minds. He was the acclaimed leader of The Believers, and he came at random times to inspect the monsterlings. The last time they came, they were all very young.

"Normally they'd tell us a few days in advance, not right beforehand." Lea stated.

"Yes, well the other guardians wanted it to be a surprise inspection. I thought it would be cruel not to tell you, as you haven't seen him since only a few days after your hatching."

He made a weak smile, and they all smiled back. Lea flew over to him and hugged his neck. "Thank you, Goldenwings!" She squeaked. He stroked her back like he was her parent, and then set her down.

The Monsterlings were eating dinner before they had to go to bed. After they finished eating, They moved into their sleeping quarters, a small room with warm blankets piled all over the place.

They always slept as a group, together to keep warm. Goji lay down and made a half-circle with his tail and head. Angi curled in front of him, and Rina completed the other side of the circle, along with Ghid and Bag. Lea lay in the direct center, and blankets formed a wall around them, keeping them warm.

Goji slowly fell asleep, finally feeling like he could rest easy, without having to think about the war, or the prophecy, or the millions of monsters who wanted them dead.
