I heard crying. I was having a flashback to when my home was burned down by Peacekeepers. My whole family died except for my father Ra and me. Today was the Reaping. The worst days in district 12 in my opinion. I ran outside to help Katniss, my friend, with hunting.
Time skip to Reaping
I was standing with the other 16 year olds when Effie walked onto the stage. The video played and she began talking. " Let's begin shall we?" She asked. "Ladies first." She reached into the jar." Katniss Everdeen." Everyone turned to Katniss. I can't let her die. She has to live. For Prim, her mother, Gale, Peeta. "I VOLUNTEER AS TRIBUTE" I yelled. "Looks like we have a volunteer. Come on up." I slowly walked up to the stage. Katniss gave me a thanking look as she ran to her family. "Now for the boys, Carter Kane!" Everyone looked to the boy. He walked up to the stage with no hesitation, like he was excepting death.
His father Julius Kane watched In horror as Carter walked. No one volunteered like I thought. We shook hands and we were led to the Justice Building.
