A Day Later...

"Oww. My head," Marina whispered to herself. She tried to open her eyes but felt they were heavy. Little by little, her eyelids were opening until she fully opened them. Her sight was blurry, but a light then filled her eyesight. "W-Where am I?" She felt confused as she looked at her surroundings. Marina noticed that she was in a room that looked like it belonged to ancient royalty.

Marina sat up and felt something soft beneath her. Her eyes were wide open as she saw the bed she lay on and her clothes. Marina slowly began to sit up but felt weak. "Am I dead?"

"You are very much alive, my dear," said a voice.

Marina flinched as she traced where the voice came from. She saw a man sitting on a lavish chair. Her body began to shake. "Wh-Who are you?"

The man stared at her and smirked. "I am Trystan. May I know your name?"

"M-Marina."

Trystan stood from his seat but did not move from his position. "Lovely name for a beautiful yet foolish woman. What were you thinking of crossing the Bermuda Triangle?"

"What!? How did I get out!? Where am I!?"

He rolled his eyes. "Calm yourself, woman. I shall explain. I saved you from a watery death, my dear. I also brought you to my kingdom."

Marina was confused. "Kingdom? Does that mean you are a king?"

"You could say something like that."

"What kingdom exactly?

Trystan gave out a little sigh. "Please do not shout when I tell you. You are in Atlantis."

Marina was filled with disbelief. "Atlantis!?"

Trystan rolled his eyes once again. "What did I say about shouting? Women. Anyway, yes, you are in Atlantis. I once ruled it before its demise."

"You were a king!? Wait, your name is Trystan? I never heard or read your name in history books."

The king shrugged. "Well, I am not surprised, like I said, the gods destroyed my kingdom. Since many nations hated me, my name was not put in history, befitting for someone like me."

Marina was in disbelief. "How do I know that you are telling the truth?"

Trystan grunted. "Open the curtains of the windows. See for yourself."

Marina was skeptical but followed his advice. She got off the bed and went towards a window covered with curtains. She moved the curtains away from the window. What she saw blew her mind, water. She saw fishes swimming in the ocean water; coral reefs, rocks, sharks, octopus, starfish, etc. Her mouth became wide open. "We are in the ocean! I-I can't believe it! H-How do I know that this is not a bloody trick!?"

"Annoying. You saw for yourself that we are deep in the ocean. Am I still lying?"

Marina gave out a little gulp. "It still can be a trick! I heard many people have aquariums in their homes; just rich people, I suppose."

Trystan shook his head. "I am amazed at your stupidity. Are you just acting that way, or are you still in denial? Use your head, woman. You were drowning deep in the ocean. How could what you just saw be an aquarium?"

The young woman noticed his annoyance. "Just because we are deep in the ocean doesn't mean that I am in Atlantis!"

The king gave out a snort as he crossed his arms. "Believe it, woman. I will not waste my time trying to convince a mortal woman that she is in Atlantis, a privilege."

Marina rolled her eyes. "Humph! Don't act arrogant. If this is Atlantis, you shouldn't even be called a king since you couldn't prevent your kingdom's downfall."

That hit the spot. Trystan felt annoyed. If his people were alive, no one would speak to him in such a manner. However, his only communication was with the human woman. He smirked and walked closer to her.

She noticed but did not move; Marina did not want to give him the satisfaction that he was making her uncomfortable. She looked up at his green eyes. "I-If what you say is true, how did Atlantis fall?"

Trystan turned and walked towards the door and opened it. He looked at Marina. "I would like to invite you to dinner."

Marina narrowed her eyes. "What if I don't want to?"

He gave out a slight smirk. "Then you will not get answers. Besides, do you not want to explore more of Atlantis?"

Marina felt excitement, but she did not want to give the man in front of her the feeling of satisfaction. She sighed. "Okay, fine."

"I will get you in a little while; preparations must be made."

Trystan left the room, closed the door, and locked it. He stood by the door. A part of him could not believe that an actual human was in his home. He never thought that he would have someone to speak with. For the first time, Trystan looked forward to dinner. He went off his merry way.
