      ELLE DAVIES HAS LOVED quidditch since the day she was tall enough to sling her tiny little leg over the broomstick handle of her brother's Cleansweep and zoom around her grandmother's tiny living room ( and it's saying a lot, considering she's been the same height since she was ten years of age ). As the first Davies daughter in over a decade, there was a substantial objection to her obsession with Quidditch ( "Eleanor, why can't you enjoy something ladylike for once in your life?" ), but Elle doesn't care. The wind sweeping her hair off of her neck, the feeling of being airborne as she flies with the wind behind her, the high she gets from Quidditch is simply enough to fill her up for the rest of her life, so fuck whatever her family thinks, right?

      EXCEPT, WRONG. Because she's been beat out of the Captain position by her brother, a position that she bloody deserves. She'd like to speak with whoever it was who made that royally insane decision, because have they met her brother, Roger Davies, quite possibly the least responsible human being to ever roam the Earth who can't even remember to put his dirty dishes in the sink, nevermind coach an entire Qudditch team? Yeah, she doesn't think so.

It certainly doesn't help either, that Oliver fucking Wood, of all people, has managed to score a Captain title as well, on the team that has rivaled Elle's since their very first year. Well, okay, maybe it's not the team that she has the issue with — maybe she simply just despises their new Captain, the person whose very voice sets her teeth on edge.

      AND LISTEN! It's simply not her fault that she and Oliver Wood completely detest one another. Elle blames on the Quidditch match where she'd perhaps taunted him a bit too much which had resulted in him keeping a quaffle so viciously that it had soared across the Quidditch pitch, pelted her square in the stomach and knocked her straight to the ground. But that excuse would make it look like it was her fault, which it was not.

      SO, Elle despises Oliver, Oliver despises Elle, and it's a Quidditch rivalry that fills the stands past their capacity when it comes time for Ravenclaw versus Gryffindor matches, and Elle likes it that way. Except, perhaps somewhere inside of her, Elle Davies doesn't hate Oliver Wood as much as she likes to think. Perhaps, while she shoots a loathsome glare his way as he raves about his glorious recent win, her heart does a somersault. Just perhaps, as she rants ( angrily, of course ) to her dorm mates about the snide comment Oliver Wood had made that day, her face is red-hot at the mere mention of him.

      BUT she doesn't say this out loud — in fact she very easily doesn't notice it. And anyway, she has more on her mind than boys. With her first N.E.W.T exams approaching at the end of the year, a rigorous Quidditch training schedule she came up with ( because her brother, the Captain, hadn't felt like doing it ), and the fact that the infamous Quidditch House Cup is approaching, she won't have any thoughts of Oliver Wood other than how she's going to absolutely smother him in their upcoming game.

She thinks.

to ease confusion, here's a bit of info concerning the current version of this book! this book was once published under the title, you can't cancel quidditch, and had lily collins as elle's faceclaim.

along with this, as this book is a slight au, instead of oliver graduating in prisoner of azkaban, he will be graduating at the end of goblet of fire — this means percy weasley, penelope clearwater, marcus flint, and the rest of their year will be graduating at the end of goblet of fire as well. this is done for all purposes of this plot — please refrain from leaving negative comments on it, as this is purely a work of fiction. 

other than the slight au of oliver's graduation, the rest of the plot & story flow fits with the canon harry potter books! enjoy <3
