Luke and Isaac rode their horses back to the ranch with speed. They hoped that they weren't too late to stop the possible bloodbath. As they neared, they caught sight of Charles, Emiliano, and Gouyen. The duo commanded their horses to stop by the entrance when they noticed Charles and Emiliano holding guns. Luke stepped forward with his gun, motioning it to Charles. "It's over; this has to come to an end! Charles-!"

"No!" yelled Emiliano. Everyone focused on the young man. "You have meddled in too much, Luke. So don't meddle in this!" Emiliano walked forward. "Well, Charles? Do you accept my challenge?"

So many thoughts went through Charles' mind. He was surrounded and didn't know if he would leave alive. However, Emiliano allowed him to get revenge; no one would get involved. It was also his chance to destroy and hurt the man he thought was his Father. He might never know; Charles held his head high. "Yes, we gonna finish this."

Emiliano lowered his weapon and motioned his enemy to follow him. The men walked past Luke and Isaac. Gouyen walked to Luke's side and held onto his left arm. She went to his ear and whispered. "It's going to be a fast draw." Luke wanted to intervene. "Let them do this, Luke. You shouldn't interfere."

"She's right, Luke. I think we know how this is gonna end."

Emiliano and Charles were outside the ranch; the workers ran toward the ranch when they heard gunshots from the household. They were surprised to see that a fast draw was about to occur. Emiliano stood in the center of the dirt path as the cold air passed. Charles did the same; they put their guns back to their holsters. They kept their distance, but their gazes never left the other.

It was silent among the occupants; everyone heard only the winds. Emiliano eyed Charles; it was strange that he felt nothing but peace. He put his gun back in his gun carrier.

Luke only stood there in nervousness. "Don't worry, Luke. He'll be fine." Gouyen gently squeezed his arm.

Charles and Emiliano looked at one another, neither looking down nor away. Then, a few small drips fell from the sky and hit everyone. "Ready?" asked Emiliano.

Charles didn't answer. His muscles tensed as he slowly tried to move his arm and hand to his gun holster. His eyes never left Emiliano, who didn't move a muscle. It began to rain; neither moved. Charles wanted his enemy to make the first move, but no movement was made, not even a twitch; it irked him. "Aren't ya gonna move, or ya scared!?"

Emiliano didn't respond; he smiled. "Who would be scared of you? There's no one to help you. Your Mother isn't here to help you. The men you supposedly hired aren't here. Dolan and Murphey aren't here. You're alone, Charles, and I feel sad that you never knew how to stand up for yourself. That's why you will lose."

"Ya know nothin', bastard!"

"You call me a bastard? That may be true, but the difference between you and me is that I at least know who my Father is."

Charles got a hold of his gun, took it out of its holster, aimed, and fired Emiliano. The workers flinched or screamed at the sound; Gouyen and Luke stood still.

Charles missed.

However, he fired his gun repeatedly, but it would only make clicking sounds. His anger dissipated as he realized the single bullet was his only one. He forgot to reload it before getting out of the house. Emiliano was unharmed and pointed his gun toward him. "W-Wait! I-!"

Charles felt a sharp pain in his chest that went through his body. His legs shook as he lost his strength and fell into the mud.

Gouyen let go of Luke's arm and slowly walked toward Emiliano. She stood beside him and saw the emptiness in his eyes. The young woman held his hand, got a hold of the gun, and threw it away. "It's over." She hugged him tightly as they stood in the center as it rained. Gouyen slowly looked up at Emiliano. He had an emptiness in his eyes. She got ahold of his face and kissed his lips. "Are you alright?"

Emiliano slowly nodded and then noticed Luke, looking at the both of them. The young man walked towards Luke and stopped in front of him. "What I said earlier..."

"No, you were right. I caused all of this to you, your Mother, and..." He gave a glance at a bleeding Charles. "...to him." He massaged his eyes. "Gouyen, where are Laureana's ashes?" asked Luke.

"On top of the fireplace."

Luke nodded as he looked at his son. "We will spread your Mother's ashes when the rain passes. She finally returned home and to me."

Emiliano chuckled. "Thank you...Papa."

Luke was shocked, "My son. Laureana, our son, he finally..." Luke couldn't hold it any longer; he hugged Emiliano with all his might. Emiliano was surprised by the sudden action but hugged his Father back.

Isaac and Gouyen watched the touching moment. However, Isaac noticed Charles crawling towards the gun that Gouyen threw; he got hold of it. "LUKE! HE GOTTA GUN!"

Charles pointed the gun at Emiliano. Luke heard Isaac and Gouyen calling and saw Charles.

Charles fired.

Isaac and Gouyen tried to get to the pair. The workers could only look in horror. Luke let go of his son and pushed him to the ground. The young man fell into the mud as the skies kept pouring. The bullet hit Luke in his upper chest, close to his heart. Blood spewed from the wound; Luke fell. Gouyen, Isaac, Emiliano, and the others screamed in horror. Emiliano crawled to his Father, who was bleeding from the wound, mouth, and nose. He turned to Charles, who struggled to reshoot the gun. However, he succumbed to his bullet wound and died.

Emiliano held onto his Father, who began to breathe heavily. Gouyen, Isaac, and other workers finally made it to their side. Emiliano tried to stop the bleeding and looked at everyone. "Anyone, do something! Get a doctor! Anything!" Isaac saw the bullet wound and knew that nothing could be done. Emiliano got a hold of Isaac's shirt. "Do something, please!"

Luke coughed out more but held onto his son's right arm. "Emiliano...I wanted...more time....with you....burn me."

"What are you talking about!? You-"

"I want to be with....your Mother...my boy...hijo. The river...was our...special place."

The rain poured harder, and Luke was losing his strength. His heart was beating slower and slower. He closed his eyes, and when he did, the cold dissipated. It stopped raining. Warmth hit him, and then Luke felt a hand gently touching his face. The elder opened his eyes, and his breathing was back to normal. His eyes widened as he saw a graceful figure sitting beside him on a green hill.

"Luke, I was waiting for you."

Luke sat up and lifted his hands at the graceful figure. "Laureana..."

Laureana stood on her feet and motioned him to stand; she smiled. "It's time for us to go home."

He stood up and quickly grabbed her, hugging her with all his might; Laureana hugged him. All the pain he felt was gone. "You're here! You're here! My love!" He looked down at her.

The young woman smiled as she touched his face. "I am here, mi amor."  Luke's tears dripped from his eyes; Laureana wiped them off.

The two were face to face; they kissed.
