-CHAPTER 1-

I rush out of the house, Pa and Ma said we were moving to Starlight Shores. A small town at edge of beach, The town had tall walls that prevent any water from getting in, if a flood happen. Where we lived was called, Starling Dove village, a small village in forest, Houses made of wood or stone. Dusty dirt roads, rocky and bumpy, Trees lining at edge of roads. I toss my belongings in back of the van. Donna, My little sister. Shoved her stuff in 3rd row of seating. When we finished, I stumbled into car, and sat on left side of 2nd row seating, As my sister took right seat. My parents scrambled into the car.

I unwrap my candy bar, broke it in two. And gave the other half to my sister, she smiled and nibbled the light brown chocolate. I took a big bite and gulp it down, The car starts to move and shakes. Van growls, As Pa pushes gas pedal as we drive off, wheels jump up and down, while running over small rocks. I quickly click my seatbelt and turn to grab small blanket. I wrap myself up and take out my phone, plugging in headphones. I laid my head at edge of seat and look at sky running with us. Donna was busily, reading her book ' Fish in a Tree' I have no idea, How Donna doesn't get sick while reading in the car, I do all the time. I glance down, where my book was. 'Survivors', A husky dog and golden dog was showed on the cover, The words ' A hidden Enemy' pressed below the word ' Survivors'. I sighed and just looked back at the window.

A jerk of car, and we stopped. " Use the bathroom, stretch your legs!" Ma said, as she exited out of the door, Donna and I flooded out, I spin around and grab my wallet. We were at Gas station. I walked with Donna, reading the sign ' Marty's Market' A bell rings as we go in, burst of cold air slaps us. Fruits, Chips and all were neatly in rows. Small hallway, that lead to bathrooms. Donna disappeared into Girl's Bathroom, The one place. I never been before, I continue to walk along in aisle, A bag of chips, some candy, A drink. I scurry over to the cashier, *Beep* *Beep* The scanner beeped, I gave the man, $13.26 and leave, Pa just tugged out a long thin pump from the car. I slid in the van and sit. I chomp on some chips and read Survivors.

The van starts to move, when everyone was in and buckled. I place bag of chips, between me and Donna. " Char, Wake me when we stop" Donna asked, I nod and play few games on my phone. Char, Is my nickname, Only family can call me that and maybe friends too. Ma hands me something, A postcard from 2 months ago, Uncle Boris sended it to us. Before he died by sickness. I prod my sister as she grumbles. ' Errr..err What!" She hissed, I hand her picture. Her eyes flutter open with joy, She flipped it over, a blue sky and field of lavenders. " I want to see that place." Donna said, poked that picture. " Okay" I replied. I take out my sketchbook, my drawings were just dogs, cats and people. I brushed my pencil on blank paper, After few minutes, I plop my book down and look at half drawn bird. The night painted over fire like sky, white dots showed up. The car stopped, Donna jumped awake. " Hotel." Ma said. We grab few things and leaving the car.

'Midnight Hotel' A glowing sign shined and tall fat building stood, few windows were lit and some were dark. Later, We unlock our room, It was wide, cyan carpeting and plain white walls, Two queen beds at side of room, lamps lingered on walls. A bathroom and Tv in front of the beds. I yawn and jump into bed, Donna stays up and reads her book. I close my eyes and slept.
