Sunstar jolted awake. His nightmare had cost him the whole night's sleep. Realization struck him that the murderer was still on the loose, and the tom jumped out of his nest. He looked into the clearing before him to see the massacre, but nothing appeared. No one had been killed. Robinflight still fresh on his mind, the green-eyed tom called a Clan meeting.

Pinepaw shouted from the back of the Clan. "Hey, Sunstar! I don't think you're our true leader!" The tom strutted to the large rock his leader was upon. "I'm pretty sure I'm your leader." The younger tom puffed out his chest in pride.

As the Clan's previous leader drug his feet as he walked away, Pinestar called back at him with mockery lacing his voice. "Have fun being an apprentice again, Sunpaw!"
