Jack's heart thumped even at the slightest thought of what happened. It bugged him in the back of his mind and he was afraid he might have been going crazy. "Mark?" Jack asked a little but more sober. "Yeah, bud?"
"Would you think I'm crazy if I told you that I believe a video game is trying to speak to me?"
"......You're retarded."
"I am not! I was just playing an indie horror game and it was literally calling my name."
"Options: you're still a little buzzed from last night, and the characters name could just be Jack. And your real name is Sean so don't forget that."
"That didn't really help."
"I know. Now go back to your game."
"You're an asshole."
"So I've been told."

---Marley's POV---

Every painstaking second passed by as I waited for Jack to return. I don't know why, but there is something calling to me. Castley said I would do crazy things in my future and he's the type to trust. I looked at my father slightly as he planned out the new formations for whenever the player comes back. I thought about how much work my dad puts into his life and it made my stomach slide every time if thought about it. His work...I was about to destroy it. If I wanted to call out to Jack again, it could risk the lives of everyone in this game. I couldn't do that, but I couldn't just sit around when I watched Jack play the game.
I have to admit...
I do have the slightest affection for him. The way his accent rolls off his tongue and the way his blue eyes sparkle with a gleaming smile. And to think. All of that is wiped away when I have to do my job.

Ding!

A familiar alarm went off as everyone scattered from their feasting. My heart jumped at the thought I could have a chance to speak with Jack again. My father zoomed past me without a comment or remorse. I knew this look. My feet scrambled back to my new formation that I overheard my father schedule for me when they were eating. It's funny, really. How my brain automatically switches to a mode I never knew existed. It just seemed to be attached to me ever since this game was created. "Alright, I'm finishing this fookin game!" A distant voice said from around my placement.
Now's my chance. Speak to him.
My heart throbbed as Jack turned a corner and faced me. With the slightest spook, he studied me.
Ready,
My breath was shallow.
Set...
I opened my mouth to say something.
Go!
"This isn't a game." I whispered.
