12 September  1699
It's been 12 years since Lena's birth and every year since on her birthday the black dogs kept coming for her no matter where she was they found her. However, they would only howl, then they would leave.

Lochaber castle close to the Atlantic sea. Lena and Brochan were visiting their uncle.

Their uncle Bearnard castle was larger than the castle they lived at and more grande, however, unlike their castle it had more scars of battle with some arrows still logged in the stone walls and ax marks left in the trees near by not from a wood chopping ax but a battle ax.

"Lena, Brochan welcome to my home, I can't wait to start your training, your father insisted we do." There, standing at the gate to the castle on a mighty grey and white speckled Eriskay pony was there uncle Bearnard. Both Lena and Brochan waved to their uncle and when he got down from his horse gave him a hug, which he picked them both up and laughed.

He then carefully place them on the ground and walked them to the castle gates, he quickly looked over his shoulder, making sure nothing had followed them from their home to his castle since it was Lena's birthday but nothing was there.

That evening the water fairies danced for Lena's party in the Lochaber clan area the creatures of the dark forest lived beside the humans whereas in the other clan they stayed separated. To welcome Lena and Brochan the water fairies danced, the blue caps made decorations and food for them. Two blue caps had made banners and signs out of old torn fabric the locals didn't want which looks brand new such as a sing with Lena's name on saying happy birthday. They made her a grand cake which was decorated with wild flowers and berries that grew in the most remote part of the forest.

Bearnard was happy to see his niece get on with the creature, however, the same could not be said for Brochan who distance himself from them. Bearnard put this down to his mother's death.

Then suddenly the air surrounding the party turned ice cold and thick fog came flooding in and consumed the party Bearnard lost sight of Lena and panicked when he heard the cry of the black dog. He grabbed his trusty ax and started running in the direction he last saw Lena.

Unaware what was going on Lena stood watching what was happening around her which was hard to see since the fog, then out of the blue a black dog approached her. She look into it scarlet red eyes and saw compassion and kindness not death and destruction like her father told her.

Then in a deep voice the black dog spoke  " My name is Lucifer your grandmother sent me, do you hear that music." Lena listen to see if she could hear the music Lucifer was going on about. Then all of a sudden she hear a voice that sounded very familiar saying "Listen my child be not afraid come follow me, I am the voice of your history. Answer my call and I'll set you free." Then right in front of her appeared a blue willo-the-wisp she started following the wisp that kept disappearing and reappearing until her uncle stepped in front of Lena stopping her in her tracks. He swung his ax at Lucifer who dogged. The fog quickly disappeared as it did appeared.

"Why did you start to follow that black dog did your father not warn you about them?" Bearnard questioned Lena. Lena answer in her sweet child voice " Yes he did but did you not hear the music it was calling me." Bearnard was puzzled by what his niece had replied with, but thought nothing of it, he though she imagined the song and picked her up and took her and Brochan into his castle, but to make sure they were safe he posted extract guards around the castle that night so if the black dogs came back they where ready.
