IT WAS SAFE TO SAY THAT DUKE DORIAN DUBOIS WAS NOT YOUR AVERAGE GENTLEMAN. For the man who was born into a well respected family (a family with a title, power and acres of land) did not feel like it was where he belonged. Since he was the only boy out of two children, he was expected to one day inherit the estate and it's appendages. But that wasn't what he truly wanted. Because if anyone had the decency to ask Dorian what it was he actually desired, he would say becoming a Musketeer.

He credited his skills to the one and only Captain André Blanchet, the former Captain of the Musketeers who also happened to be a close family friend of the Dubois'. Since he was a boy Dorian had trained in the art of the sword, spending hours upon hours in the fields behind their manor sparring with the Musketeer he loved like an uncle. But it was something his Father disapproved of. Because according to him the heir of the Dubois title should be focused in his studies, not training to slash and stab with a blade and 'getting his hopes up' of one day being a soldier for the King of France himself.

Dorian was content being a Dubois, he really was, it just wasn't what made his heart race a million times per hour or made him so giddy that he would almost faint. He didn't, and couldn't, believe owning a large house and a multitude of fields was his purpose on God' Earth. After all, looking after their home and their people, that was more his sister's thing, not his. And their Father despised it, which was why the siblings felt slightly relieved when their old man decided to kick the bucket, allowing them the freedom to finally do what they wanted.

But Dorian Dubois was still not free.

Shackled by his overwhelming inheritance, Dorian struggled to see a way out. His Father had left all the paperwork in such a mess, he knew it would take months to sort out and Dorian had a feeling that it was exactly what he wanted. But Marcel Dubois had underestimated his son and those he cared for. Because once they saw Dorian in trouble, they came to his aid and helped him out of the whole his Father had so kindly dug.

Everything he had never asked for was now his to do as he willed. And his will was to leave it all behind.

Saying goodbye to his childhood home wasn't as hard as he thought it would be. He had imagined it would be like a stab in his heart, a never closing wound that would continue to bleed, but it was not. After leaving the manor and land in the very capable hands of his sister, her husband and Captain André Blanchet — who now lived in a small cottage hidden away on the Dubois estate — Dorian left behind everything he had ever known and journeyed to France's pride and joy: Paris.

The city was everything he had ever dreamed of, and so much more. He really was enjoying his new life far away from where he once called home. But then one of his new friends barged into his rooms, announcing that an old friend of Dorian's had been arrested on charges the Duke could never believe in a million years. And it was through his determination to prove Athos' innocence that he introduced himself to the Musketeers and then started to work with them to free a man they all cared for.

But it soon became apparent that Athos wasn't the only one Dorian cared about and that his heart beat for the charming Musketeer in their band of merry men. And unbeknownst him, Aramis was starting to feel the same.

DEDICATIONS —
A special shoutout to one of my best friends on this site MissHiraeth98 who has helped me with developing and talking through this plot. Me publishing this fic is partly Cory's fault, they inspired me to write for my babies.

This book is dedicated to any Musketeer fans as well as these wonderful people coolwhenurbatman -lxcifer arrthurpendragon Oneirataxia_girl dorkiest_nerd HannahDottier -trojanwar gracefulheretic

DISCLAIMER —
I don't own The Musketeers, the cast or the plot, I only own my OCs and their stories.

AUTHOR'S NOTE —
The first thought that popped into my head when I started to watch The Musketeers was this fic and I haven't been able to get rid of it since. Aramis gives me closeted bisexual vibes so I had to make this fic. The Musketeers are all so supportive and Porthos is obviously the captain of Aramis and Dorian's ship. Dorian is like an honorary Musketeer and always does what he can to help them. I adore Aramis and Dorian so much, they're so cute and protective. I love these babies so much.

Stunning opening gif is made by the one and only MissHiraeth98

Thank you for clicking on this book and I hope you enjoy reading 'Les Amoureux'.

Sincerely, Rosie aka Winter326
