Angelise's P.O.V.

For some strange reason, Maximus appeared in the majority of my classes throughout the rest of the day. It was really unsettling to me, as he was normally either behind me or right next to me. I noticed that he'd mess around with his notebook paper and at one point seemed to be trying to pass a note to me, but maybe I was overthinking things... I mean, what else can I do in these classes I don't understand.

Thank goodness a Tyrinian graduate will tutor me starting next week while the teachers try to figure out what to do with me.

Until then... I need to figure out what I should do about housing.

"I already have that all figured out for you already."

"Gah! How long have you been standing there?"

"How long were you talking to yourself?"

He heard everything... ohmygoshhowcouldihavebeensostupidheheardeverythinfthisisbadreallybadformewhoknowswhathewouldevendowiththeknowledgehecoulduseitagainstmesomedayrunforyourlives!

"Uh... you okay, Angel-Ty?"

"Y-Yeah! TOTALLY fine, Lexidan."

"Yeah-huh... sure you are..."

He then led me to another location claimed by the school... a big building... I assume for housing the off-worlders.

We went up a couple levels via a steep staircase that killed my legs and arrived at this door.

"Suite 1301. This is it," Maximus said to no one before swiping some key card thing in front of the lock.

"Isn't that old tech?" I asked him.

"Good. You caught on." He pocketed the card, which apparently was just his student ID, and put his hand in front of the lock on the door. Instantly, it unlocked and slid open (Yes, it's a sliding door). It was like a miniature house inside! I saw my bags and luggage were all here... somehow...

"Your room is that one on the right. Mine is the one on the left."

My brain then finally put the last piece into the puzzle and I realized...

"Wait.YOU'RE going to live here too?! With ME?! NO WAY. Just-Just no. I-I-I just can't."

"Well they did say you'd need someone who understands you to make sure everything will be okay for you here. They don't know how long it'll be until you can fluently speak and understand the Earthians and regular Neolians."

"Gee whiz! It's not my fault I was a sheltered child!"

"I know that... it's just-"

"I'm going to bed. Wake me up tomorrow." I went into my room.

"But it's too early!"

"I don't care. Goodnight." I lied facedown on my bed.

"Angel-Ty!"

I groaned and threw the pillow on top of my head, hoping that'll drown him out...

Spoiler alert: It didn't.

"I have an idea that'll cheer you up. Since I only have three early morning classes tomorrow and you have zero, why don't we go somewhere in the afternoon." He was sitting on the bed. I could tell without looking. He's so aggravating...

"Did I ever allow you to come into my room?" I asked him, moving to an upright position.

"I'm not a boundaries person."

"How many times have I told you to shut up?" He smirked and put his hands on my shoulders. I really hate him now...

"A grand total of two hundred sixty-eight thousand ninety-four... including just now."

"You know I really don't like you, right?"

I crossed my arms and looked at the floor with a huff.

"What can I say?" His left hand left my shoulder and was then used to lift up my chin. "I'm ignorant."

We just sat I silence there for a few moments, and then I realized exactly what this looked like... and it was weird. My face did heat up SLIGHTLY, but that's it.

I darted away to the corner in a flash, curling up and cowering to myself.

"G-Go away!"

He laughed at me.

"Fine... but I'm going through with tomorrow's plans whether you like it or not." He then left, leaving me all alone to collect my thoughts...

Well... that was embarrassing...

The next day...

"Angel-Ty, wake up! Today's the day!"

I raised my fist without opening my eyes and threw a punch.

"Ow! You hit my nerve!"

"Maybe that'll get you to stop bothering me..."

"What was that? You mumbled, Angel-Ty."

"Stop calling me that..."

"Uh... Angel-Ty, have some water. It'll help you speak more clearly."

"No."

"I'm not a hundred percent sure, but that sounded like a no."

"Uh-huh."

"Wait, that mumble sounded affirmative... do you or do you not want water?"

"I don't."

"You don't?"

"Nope. I don't."

"Wait what? You do?"

"No."

"Make up your mind."

"UGH!" I threw the pillow over my head and seemed shelter under the blankets.

"Okay. I'll just pack some water for this afternoon. You're gonna LOVE where we're going."

"...eh?"

"Yup. We're going to the only Neolian Museum on Earth! Dedicated to the late Queen Claire! I know how much you love history, so..."

"Umm... I won't understand anything."

"There are translation stations at each exhibit, for off-worlders and people from other parts of Earth! So, what do you say?"

"...Eekers..."

"That's the spirit-wait what?"
