It was a cool, breezy day in Spring in the Mushroom Kingdom. Luigi had spent almost the whole day at home by himself. It wasn't a huge deal for him  because he had gotten used to it. Either his older brother had gone on another big adventure without him or only he had been invited to an event.

Luigi was so used to this 'loneliness' that he didn't bother complaining about it or made let it upset him. He disliked living in this sort of isolation but as long as Mario was happy- he was happy.

He spent the afternoon just tidying and sorting out things around their house. When he was satisfied by the looks of things; he settled down and attempted a Grand Prix  in Mario Kart 8 on his Nintendo Switch. On the last lap of the first race, a Blue Shell stole his First Place position on him when he was heading towards the finish line. Luigi sighed in annoyance as other characters passed him by. It was sadly too late for him to try to overtake them.

7th Place. Not good at all.

He closed the game and turned off the console.

At this stage, he just wanted Mario to return home. His older brother was always good company although sometimes they had childish arguments.

They always had that bit of friendly rivalry going on between them and the pair were often competive with each other. Also, when Luigi was scared and sad- Mario was always there to comfort him.

However, Mario would sometimes tease his brother when he was feeling down.

"Ah Weegie! Don't-a be such a bambino," he would often tell him.

Luigi was openly able to discuss things that bothered him with his brother but it wasn't the case with Mario..

Luigi had never seen him show sadness or fear. The only times he knew something was up with his bro was when he had a sudden, huge outburst.

Probably from the accumulation of sad, upsetting thoughts inside his head..

Luigi would not have minded helping Mario out when he wasn't feeling his best and he certainly wouldn't have teased him (despite the fact that Mario did so to him.)

"It's normal to be feel sad or scared," Luigi thought,

"You don't have to go through life with a smile across your face the entire time..."

A/N: Sorry that this prologue was really short. I kind of just want to leave the rest 'til the first proper chapter. Also 'bambino' means baby/ child in Italian.

Hope you enjoy this short fic! ^-^
