The first gay pride flag was made in 1978 by Glibert Baker, he refused to trademark it because he believed that the flag was a symbol for everyone that was apart of the LGBTQ+ community. The original flag had eight stripes, then brought down to seven due to unavailable pink fabric, and then finally brought down to six.

The flag is supposed to represent the diversity in the community and the spectrum of people's gender and sexuality.

The first is known as "Retro 8" made in 1978.

The remade version because unavailable pink fabric (1978-79)

And then the one used from 1979 until now.

What do the colors represent? Well let's take a look shall we?

Hot pink - Sex

Red - Life

Orange - Healing

Yellow - Sunlight

Turquoise - Magic/Art

Indigo - Serenity

Violet - Spirit
